from what i understand the main two we got rid of were Wild and Robinson, also heard about attitude problems with aspinwall. Wild has gone on to become a cracking player, im not struck on robinson personnally but at the time he went we weren't altogether sure how he was going to turn out. point im making is at the time these players could have done a job for us. Griifin certainly thinks he is better than he is, walks around the gym like he owns the place and should be treated like royalty. and i wont mention in detail experiences a family member has had with him at her place of work. the guy is a nightmare and not someone we need.

Dont know anything about Wild, but its well known why Robinson went.
So your opinion of Griffin is based on a personal family situation, which is fair enough, but slants your views somewhat.

You could look at it like that, or you could say that this puts him in a better position than most to judge him.
Personally I don't rate Griffin, his stats are poor, and he isn't exactly going to set the world alight. For me Griffin is fine if you want someone to play behind a leader, however thats not what we want, we want a leader.

| Griffin is a bit of a prat, but generally he is well liked by his fellow players, so i guess its what your perspective is, i do not mind a bit of arrogance as long as the lad can back it up, he has not over the last few years but certainly did for most of his Wakefield career.

The Wakefield fans weren't his biggest admirers when he left saying he was a lazy git but i suppose thats the same with Coley and the Salford fans.
He's an aggressive prop and the side needs one tbh. Hopefully if he did come the chance to play for a big club would bring the best out of him.

There were a few incidents with the Wakefield fans that he responded to which is a good part of why they do not like him, he did also go off the boil when he knew he was leaving which did not help.

I think I'd be disappointed if Griffin was to be our only prop signing, but there seems to be a school of thought that he's been purchased along with an Aussie hardcase (though, like others on here, I have no information about who that may be).

dont get me wrong, i dont like his attitude, the way ive seen him treat people acting in a professional capacity on his behalf is appalling including a family member, but he'll not be the only one playing our great game that does this. I just agree with many posters on here that he is average and offers us nothing more than our current crop of players. Combining that with what i have witnessed with his attitude, its just my personal opinion of him. Is my judgement clouded of him, maybe but i will be the first to hold my hands up and say hes a good signing if he puts in the performances. But to be honest ive seen nothing at him at Hudds that suggests he will do this especially when you consider he is playing in a far superior pack to ours and still cant perform to that level. But at the moment is pie in the sky cos we dont know if its happening. Fingers crossed he'll be a Huddersfield player for some time to come

| Ive honestly never seen anything in Griffin that makes me want him to be in a Wigan shirt. I could probably name 10 other non quota props who id have in the side before him.

Well if theyre not available then why sign Griffin when hes no better than what we've got. Id imagine Griffin would want to come when he can get a good contract offer of us. No point signing him for the sake of it.

There appears to be few props available at present within our budget (dont forget we are looking for a halfback as well), and IL is under pressure by the coaching staff and the fans to sign at least one prop, we still dont know for sure if Noble will be here next year, so who is choosing the new recruits, who has earmarked Griffin ?(if rumours are true).

Well if the new coach and assistant is in place like is rumoured then id imagine IL is picking up the phone to him? Who knows its like blood from a stone trying to find anything out that is GENUINE. Loads of bollox going around but its all from the same people who told us Noble has been sacked twice.

I think the assistant is sorted, but head coach is still 'on going'.

| Nobody knows anything, thats why these threads keep going, for everyone who names a player he can be shot down and for everyone who thinks Nobby is going someone else thinks he is staying.
I personally dont think IL has decided yet. The semi final will have big implications for Noble I would think.

completely agree. the noble situation is a strange one, we are inconsistent which frustrates us yet we have been one game away from a grand final for the last two years. we are still in the running for super league and have a cup semi to look forward to and after beating leeds tonight we must have the likes of saints worried that we can challenge. but if we performed consistently would we top the league, could a different coach do better than noble. i have mixed emotions and i think the decision IL makes will shape him as a chairman. Are we better than we think we are. i dont think so, but a think we are on the crest of something special at Wigan. question is, can noble take us there, i wouldn't like to make that decision.

| Tonight further strenghens my believe that it's 2 forwards we should be signing for next season.
A back up halfback could possibly be brought in if theres room but it's not essential.
Get 2 forwards in and this side can really go places.

Couldn't agree more, 2 new props or even one exceedingly good one such as Kite will take us up another notch, and don't even get me stated on Fielden, if I'd had a rifle with me I might have taken a shot at him.

| Last night further confirmed for me that we are FIELDEN away from being up there with the top 2. On paper now i think the one difference between su and leeds [over the course of a season! is Peacock, we don't have a Peacock. Strong hard running prop, hard man, leader. This is what Fielden should be for us, fair enough he's solid in defence, but thats not what he's here for.
If we could get in a new aussie prop for next year [which will someone please PM me about! haha i think our team would be up there at the top throughout the season.
NEW PROP
Riddell
Prescott [come on leaps and bounds now
J Tomkins
Hansen
Sean O'Loughlin
Sam T
Tommy Leuluai [who has become a lot more creative, partly down to sam being first reciever rather than himself all the time, kicking game a lot better as well
Backs the same as this year.
BENCH
Feka
Coley
Mossop
McIllorum
Then in the squad we'd still have ridiculous depth with Farrell, Flanaghan [if he's still here, O'Carroll, Goulding, Ainscough, Fielden, Pryce with most of those having quite a lot of first team experience.
Just missing that one intimidating prop, and tbh i'd pay fielden off now and not play him next season. Purely because if we got a new prop in we'd have 6 first teamers, with Ben Davies possibly looking for some 1st team action next year as well.

| Just a thought but with cracks starting to appear in both Saints and Leeds' air of invincibility I wonder how much Graham or Peacok would cost? Seems to me we might have the money to spend and they both could use it to start replacing their aging bodies, Saints especially.

I was once told that Graham was actually a Wigan fan - or had been as a lad. But, unless Saints suffer a real collapse, prying him away from KR would be next to impossible, I'm sure. I hear what you say about maybe they could use the money, but it would be a hugely unpopular move with their fans. I think they'd do everything possible to hang onto him.

It worked with Connolly and Platt though. Besides, everyone's a winner if you think about it, we get a decent prop, they get to extend their world record holding "List of things I really hate about Wigan ......"
