All part of Nobby's masterplan of introducing young wigan players into the team - this will knock a few of those who criticise him for only picking youngsters when he's forced into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| I agree with moving Lockers to 2nd row and putting Tomkins at 13.
He was a better 13 then Lockers when Lockers was injured. Lockers can tackle all day long and he has go forward.

| I'm not usually one for the whole 'letz sign im coz he's ded gud' thing but imagine this guy in SL. Tendai Mtawarira, nicknamed the beast. Type his name into a well know video sharing website. Out-scrummaged the British Lions Phil Vickery, SSN did a little profile on him. He really is a beast but has immense pace for his size.
IL, sign him on Bailey's, Hock's & Tim Smiths wage?

When the news was broke today the thoughts of Myler crossed my mind, if we had enough money before for a prop + a SH, with Hocks wage added on we must surely be able to throw money at a top prop and sh, but if none of the top quality SH's from AUS come over, throw stupid money at myler and hope it sticks.
I just think that if a new coach comes in and moves Leuluai to hooker as is expected, he can be moved back to the halves if ST or RM have a bad spell.
Options at least.

I'm really against Tommy as a 7, its one of our major problems. No creativity from the 7.
I was once doubting Myler due to his age, but his age doesn't seem to be a factor with the way he plays the game.
Sooner have a young quality talent like Myler than an aging Aussie for 2 seasons like Orford.
Orford is quality, but we need to start building longer term stability.

I'd agree with every single one of those signings, personally thought Myler was more or less gone to wire, but now with us having plenty of spare cash I'm not so sure. Either way Lenegan needs to pull his finger out and and WOW us all with some good news.

I agree tommy doesn't provide enough creativity, but as cover for the halves he isn't a bad player at all.
The problem for us now is the massive lack of attacking prowess, most of our attacks only produced goods on the left hand side, mainly due to hock.
I also feel this has now massively reduced the strength of our team, and with such a large amount of cap space becoming available we may as well take this opportunity to completely rebuild the team around Tomkins and Myler.
I'd happily let go
Hansen
Bailey
*Hock*
Coley
Smith
Fielden (not gonna happen)
Goulding
Pryce/Carmont < Pryce could possibly provide the penetration down the left hand side.
Put McIllorum out on loan.
Thats got to be close to about a third of our cap AT LEAST!
Get in Myler - Goulding+Hansen+£££
Cayless
If we release Pryce and Carmont we could use the money to get in a top aussie centre - Jamie Lyon perhaps now that Gidley has extended his contract.
Ideal line-up next year
Roberts
Richards
*Lyon*
Gleeson
Ainscough
Tomkins
Myler
Tomkins
O'Loughlin
Mossop
Cayless
Riddell
O'Carroll
BENCH
Leuluai
Feka
Prescott
Flanagan/Farrell
Compete with the best would that team.

We've certainly got the chance to have a clear out this year and next, if we start resigning certain players I truly will loose all faith in the club, personally made me feel very depressed reading Rad's book to hear him compare the club when he joined to the poor state it was/is now.

| I've just heard a massive rumour that Wigan are thinking about going for Stephen Wild. Apparently IL has set him out as our top target to replace Hock.
Obviously there is going to be money involved and Mossop could possibly be going the other way on a permanent deal as well.
Thoughts?
I don’t personally believe it myself but stranger things have happened.

Would be very surpirsed.
As good a player as Wild undoubtedly is, I'm unconvinced we need to replace Hock.

My immediate thoughts are that it would be a waste of time and money.
Even with the Hock situation the priority should still be to find two props of the right quality.
We have the replacements ready and waiting in our academy and in all honesty I don't rate Wild particularly highly anyway.

| Quote ="inside_man"losing hock should in no way influence keeping bailey, for a quota space and the wage he demands, he is no better than hansen. Very good in defence, just doesn't offer anywhere near enough in attack.

On a serious note, he's well settled within the club. Performs alot behind the scenes, great bloke.
Top dollar yes MAYBE!!, but if he is the talks would go has - reduce your wage or leave. What would you do?
Why bring another new player in!
Hansen
Mossop
Bailey
J.Tomkins
With O'Loughlin/Flan for Loose Forward, but next year I can see Lockers in the 2nd Row with Flan and J. Tomkins preforming the LF role.

| Noble was asked once that if he could bring any former Wigan player back to the club who would it be?
His reply was Stephen Wild.
I don't think they should even consider letting Mossop go the other way.
The thread above had one answer perhaps and that was bring Ashton back as a replacement for Phelps. That would free up another overseas spot as immediate replacements for either this season or next are not to be found easily in the UK.
The Daily Express is saying today that following Kearney turning us down we'll probably go for Lam with Matty Johns as his asst. Who's going in and out of the Roosters or Melbourne who could help with prop, 2nd row & half back?

I also read that in the Express, where the hell do they get Mathew John's name from, I know the guy might want a fresh start, but does he posses any previous coaching experience.
As for Lammy I would say yes, if the club is stuck in a rut, then in my mind who better to take it back to it's previous state than former players who experienced the club at it's best.

| Don't think I'd be overly chuffed with Lam as head coach.
As an assistant by all means but Lam isn't the kind of coach who is going to strike fear into the players and demand instant respect.
There's a rsik of him being more of a mate to the players than a coach, which is not what we need.
We need a proven coach!

One thing we couldn't say is that 'the players don't get on with the coaching staff'......................they'd all be on king st every friday, saturday and sunday being the best of pals
The events of today has convinced me even more that our new coach should be Brian McDermott.
We need somebody with a strict disciplinary outlook who takes no sh*t but at the same time will be respected by the players.
If certain players don't like that then they make way.

It's a pipe dream though mate.
He has 3 union jobs all of which are high profile and well paid and we couldn't match them and he's got a kid down in London that he wants to see on a regular basis.
Even his love for Wigan RugbyLeague club won't tempt him here just yet.
I do have a genuine feeling that his love for the club will see him here one day but not yet.

I'd guess were looking at 5 years minimum mate which is a real shame.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt to enquire but i'm 100% sure the answear would be no.
