I finished up on car park 3 and turned right out of the car park, got away pretty quickly. Avoided the road works on the M1 by heading towards Wakefield and enjoyed a pint in the sun at a lovely country pub.

| Absolutely outstanding performance.
Finally played up to our potential and our star pack all played like it and the back were purring.
Smith well worthy of man of the match but Thomson absolutely immense too.
Ellis back to form today.
Great to see us finally flex our muscles.

Ellis was back to his best last week to be fair to him. He was immense at Huddersfield.

| I do think a few calls went against KR and they are a good side but my god they don’t half b*tch from the fans to the players to the coach, Its pathetic and they ain’t winning anything if that’s what they focus on. Hats off to Hall who in the HT was honest and humble.

That could be right and personally I would have preferred Tom Johnstone.
When we sign Ryan Hall and bring in Matty Russell you know we are scraping the barrel.
It was more how he didn`t want to blame the ref for how KR were playing even though Tanya Arnold was trying to say that was the issue.

Well, who wouldn't! But it seems a season too far for Hall, who has been a terrific player.

| The big issue here is the commentary team, they have a very important role to play as they can massively influence opinion. Fans and lazy journalists follow that agenda (the only logical conclusion is it was an agenda) resulting in this faux outrage which takes away from the fantastic performance from Wigan.
I’m sure after a long career playing Wilkin must know the rules of the game. Yes, it was a forward pass but it doesn’t take too many brain cells to work out they were offside first, he even acknowledged they were clearly offside yet still continued to whinge about it.
We see the ‘shepherds’ every week. Every team does it, they are rarely given unless it is outrageously obvious. This is consistent with what we see see week in week out and will only change with a shift in the interpretation of the rules.
The worst one from the commentary was the decision to completely ignore the clear red card offence by Hiku. Davies got very excited about the possibility of Thompson walking after the most innocuous late tackle that shouldn’t of even been a penalty and the chances of a Wigan player walking after Opacic had a cheap shot on Keighran, incidentally Keighran’s yellow was a joke.
Really poor from the BBC

| I used to rate Davies as a commentator but went off him after the 2011 Challenge Cup Final when he was so petulantly anti-Wigan that it was straight out of the Eddie and Stevo playbook. I can only assume it was all about where he'd put his money, but nevertheless, I saw him in a different light after that.

| Was working yesterday afternoon so only managed to watch the first half (2nd half on GMR). From what I saw we were very impressive and blew Hull KR away (almost as we did in the playoff semi).
If we can keep this squad injury free (although we do have amazing squad depth) then we can hopefully expect more and more success over the next few years. What an exciting time to be a Wigan supporter.

| Ryan Hall has been a champion player and is a honest and down to earth guy. I don't want my comment to sound like a criticism of him, I just hate to see good players go on too long. They tend to get remembered for how they performed at the end of their career and not at their best which is very unfortunate.

Further to this, why was the following not a talking point? If that was Byrne he'd have been straight off and that would have then been the narrative for the rest of the commentary and post game.

| To get back to the actual game, thought we performed brilliantly, we were so clinical in what we did both in attack and defense. Tactically we were spot on.
Everyone played well but apart from Smith getting MOM I thought Thompson showed exactly why we signed him and N'Semba was a real handful but no one had a bad game at all, we looked like a really well drilled and coached team.
I didn't get HKRs gam eplan which mostly seemed to be pass it to Lewis and hope he could make something happen, they didn't play anything like they did in the league game tactcally, although the way Wigan tore into them from the start was a huge part of that.

| Phuzzy, dunno why but can’t quote you
That’s what I meant in the last paragraph by saying they ignored a clear red card offence. It can only of been through choice.
The replay is far worse than i remember at the time. I hate to say it but Field should have stayed down.

| It's not allowing quotes now for some reason mate...
I thought it was a bad one at the time but, seeing it again, it's even worse. How he doesn't see a card for that I'll never know. Still, Wilkin would rather spend the match whinging about the "injustice" of a correct decision so let's not worry about the blatant attack to the head of a prone player! As you say, the narrative stinks and totally belittles what was an outstanding performance.
I must mention Luke Thompson here too. I didn't know 80 minute props still existed, let alone in that heat! The man's a machine.

| Quote ="Phuzzy"Our friends on RedVee are having a mini meltdown too. One reeaaaalllly long post about how we get preferential refereeing. You'd think the grubby attack on Field whilst on the floor, the head high on Ellis, Minchella's wonderful play acting as though hed been shot when he'd barely been touched etc never happened! Let's all get up in arms about a forward pass not being given instead, eventhough the offside was the correct decision and supercedes it anyway!

The most toxic poster on Redvee is a thing called Brian Nazerath.

| Great performance yesterday. That first 40 was a real statement to the other teams; when we're on like that, we're very, very difficult to beat.
Nsemba turned the tables on Lewis, compared to a few weeks ago. That boy is a superstar and unfortunately, the NRL awaits in a few years.
I'm optimistic we'll finish the job at Wembley, it all starts with our intent in defence. You could tell from minute 1 yesterday, that we were fully dialled in.

| Thomson is going to make a huge difference for us this season. Having a prop than can play 80 mins at that level gives us so many options and helps make the most out of Mago and include another impact forward in Walters. The fact Walters can also play prop covers any injury issues. Add Havard into the mix as another who plays long minutes we have plenty of options through the game.
Keep up the same intensity and discipline in big games and we'll be hard to beat. Looking forward to the final to get a benchmark on how good Warrington are this season.
Regarding the BBC coverage, yet again the BBC go into a game with a pre set narrative about the teams and point out how unfortunate they have been in not being allowed to play their attractive exciting rugby.
The 'mistake' they made made over the forward pass was ridiculous and they just followed the narrative from there - now there are fans from every team saying how bent the refs are in favouring wigan yet again........
I was amazed at the time that nothing was said about Hiku on Field - as blatant a red as you will see. A wigan prop doing that it would have been a very different story. Lucky that Field saw it coming and lifted his arm to protect his face.

I totally agree. We should all have learned long ago that British RL's commentators mostly talk crud, and compared to the NRL guys, are an acute embarrassment.
But whereas Eddie and Stevo set new standards for shameless bias, what we're seeing now, from both the Beeb and Sky, is an amateurish attempt to create the impression the league is filled with teams who are equal to each other. If it isn't Barry Mac calling unknown journeymen 'the best in the world' at whatever they just happened to have done, it's the whole team spending the halftime round-up at Leigh v Wigan pretending the game is on a knife-edge when in reality, Leigh are being well beaten.
The plain fact of this last weekend is that both Hull KR and Huddersfield got well and truly owned.
Huddersfield were substandard all over the park. They didn't even do the basic defensive work, and don't look as if they deserve their mid-table position (which speaks volumes on its own). Hull KR, while they're a better bet, were totally outplayed. Mikey Lewis will always be a threat because of his tricky running, but he was completely unconnected to the rest of his team.
Anyone who genuinely knows the game will have seen that for themselves and no amount of spinning that result into some kind of injustice will fool them.

The problem, Cruncher, is that the emptiest vessels make the loudest noise. Take RedVee as an example. The grown ups came out to play yesterday and, as a result ,the posts were far, far more balanced and, despite many posters understandably not being happy about Wigan being as good as they were, they had no problem acknowledging it. However the "empty vessels" were already set in their narrative and no amount of sense was going to detract them.
So it is with the BBC/social media/Sky etc. The empty vessel that is John Wilkin decided a narrative and the rest followed suit. The ridiculous number of times he questioned a decision that he, himself, had called as correct (the offside) was ludicrous yet no one pulled him up on it.
Unfortunately the number of people that "know" the game is dwarfed by those who simply don't or merely have a passing interest in the game.
