| If he were a couple of years younger peacock by a mile....Wish we'd have bought him rather than fielden when they were both probably on a par in 2006....weda already won a cup by now IMO if we had.
But as youd only get a couple of years out of peacock, I would say either Eastmond or Dobson.
If we could bring Dobo back to wigan what an awesome partnership Dobo and Sam would make, best in the league IMO.

The perfect HB combo!
Just think when Hull KR signed him we got Tim Smith instead???
If ever there was a realistic transfer fee to be paid then Dobbo should and would be it.

Exactly....he would give us everything sam lacks and could help build sams part of that game (namely teamwork and kicking skills)
Tomkins is an awesome player but his kicking is his downfall, anyone could see that at KR with his kicks constantly finding Pryce. Dobo could take the pressure of this side of the game with his near perfect organisational and kicking skills while Tomkins could be left to terrorise the opposition defence.
If ever there was a HB partnership made in heaven it would be that one.

| For me it would be;
Buderus - McIlorum and Riddell are playing brilliantly at the moment but Buderus is a very skillful player and I'd rather see him alternating with McIlorum than Riddell
Luauki looks promising.
Morley - a beast with plenty of experience.
Peacock - same as Morley. He's passionate and exactly the kind of player who would fit in with the new regime.
Briscoe and Dobson.

You'd want [uall[/u of these, including three front rowers whose joint ages push them past 90?
No disrespect, but I'd opt to keep the players who so far have us at the top of the league. And Briscoe's chance has been and gone. We've got Roberts for the next three years. After him, there's a choice at full back of Charnley, Marsh or Vievers.

| At the moment I would probably say Morley simply because our pack would then be superb. Maybe Fitzgibbon in place of Bailey?

I wouldn't sign all these players at once, but these are the players out there that I think would improve our team and realistically I'd look to bring in one or two because I'm happy with our players this year.
I'd still prefer to see Briscoe in at full back and Roberts on the wing. I really admire Briscoe's defensive qualities and the way he puts his body on the line week in week out, very reminiscent of Radlinski.
On a side note, when I was thinking about this it made me realise there aren't many top hookers around at the moment. Cunningham is phenomenal but he's at the end of his career.

Yeah, but I prefer Pat & Amos to be on the wings, and Brett would be an improvement on Phelps.

I'm all for giving it time on that score. Not quite a full season at fullback v >10 years at it, hardly apples for apples. For the wage value and versatility Cam provides, combined with youth: Brett Hodgson, no thank you.

Nice to see that others can appreciate Phelp's, still not bad for a 25 year old who before a few games into 09 had never had a run at fullback in his career

He's really come on a lot tbh and offers good cover across the backs. He's creative, brave as hell, versatile, and gives his all. Be interesting to see how he develops this season under Maguire, but I don't think there's a fullback out there who offers better value.

I'm not knocking Cam, far from it, he's done a beltin' job for us, and I hope his contract gets renewed this year...just sayin' there are better fullbacks around, especially defensively.

I think that needs to be qualified with "at the moment". Let's not forget that, before his injury, he was our standout and most improved player. It's only Amos' sensational form in the position that has kept him out and, quite frankly, on Amos' current form there are no better fullbacks in SL. This is Phelp's first full season with the number 1 jersey and, despite this (and Amos' aside) there are few if any I would take above him. Hodgeson, yes. However he has only a couple years, at best, left in the game. Cam could possibly secure the no. 1 jersey for the next 5. The only other fullback with arguably a better fullback's all round game in SL at the moment is possibly Brent Webb (Clint Greenshields hasn't been very good so far this year off what I've seen) and he is too injury prone for a top earner in my opinion. Phelps/Amos for me.....

And a fair number of Leeds fans are wondering what's happened to Brent Webb, so it's not all that clear cut there either.
I don't think i'd be looking to sign any star from an opposition club who was over 28, I'd not think the big transfer fee involved would be worth the longevity of the player. Eastmond, i'd break the bank for tomorrow - but i'm far happier him being at Saints than going off to RU.
