| Quote ="sergeant pepper"Said to my mate the other day that Friday's result was bad for Wigan on two fronts.
1 - Following their strong start to the season, Salford will be very confident heading into Friday.
2 - Most importantly, it spelled the end of Agar. Leeds have a very good side, but the worst coach in the league. A good coach will get so much more out of that side and, imo, makes them very dangerous.'"
I don't disagree as such with either point. Although I would say if we can't beat Salford at home (confident or not) then we certainly don't deserve to win the Challenge Cup.
On your second point, I want the top sides to be as good as they can be. Wigan, Leeds, Warrington, Huddersfield and Hull all performed dismally for most of 2021 and the league isn't strong enough for that to happen.

Yeah it was looking at it from a purely selfish, Wigan POV. It's far easier to be successful when others are weak (look at the current Saints side).
Agree with the Salford comment, although it doesn't really matter how you with the CC, as long as you win it. We did it hard in 2011 with wins Vs Wire (A), Saints and Leeds. We also had it easier in 2013 with Hull KR, Widnes, London and Hull in the final. No one really talks about that tho, just the fact we won it.

why would he go to Leeds?
Another Dave Furner type appointment imminent IMO.

Why wouldn't he?
Traditional big club, with great youth and still active in the market.
Catalan's are the better side, but how long will that last? Mcilorum, Pearce, Tomkins, Dudson, Kasiano + others all well over 30. How long until it's a rebuild project?

| It’s actually gone far better for Agar at Leeds than I would’ve imagined. He steadied the ship and even threw in a Challenge Cup win but he probably should’ve moved on in the off season.
Where they go, I do not know. The timing isn’t great. You do wonder if they may try and tempt Wane to take over at some point, maybe after the World Cup or in a split job basis alongside the England job beforehand. I suppose it depends how he’s settled in to a different type of role here.

| No surprise with the news after watching the Salford game it was game over for him sadly.
As for “are Leeds a good side”I’m not so sure, the young lads are certainly going to players who mature into good ones but it seems stuffed full,of journeymen such as Sezer and Austin,no doubt some will bounce on me at that comment but I’ve not seen anything to think that pair will lead them to glory.
As for a coach it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t tempt Sinfield with a chance at the top table,we shall see.

| Panic over as many "in the know" on the Leeds board are saying Justin Morgan has been offered the job.
Looks like Hetherington doesn't think the coaches job is that important.

| Alarm bells had to ring about Sezer when Ian Watson went in on him. He seems a decent guy Watson and the type who’d back his players to the hilt wherever possible. Add in another strange character in Blake Austin and it’s a halfback pairing that looks good on paper but in reality looks to be trouble.

| Leeds will never get it right for the future until they get rid of Hetherington.
If he is still signing players rather than the coach then it's no wonder the club aren't going anywhere.

In that period after he found out that he was being replaced by George Williams he was fantastic, as is often the case with players looking for contracts. Vaeliki (???) did the same with us I seem to remember.

Yes,this is pretty much what I think of him once Watson called time on his career you had to ask why and has he not picked up his share of injuries too?nah not for me and as for Austin he’s been in SL longer and done naff all past that first season.

Not sure that is really fair.
Watson only really went in on Sezer when he found out he was moving to Leeds.
Austin and Sezer have formed a very good partnership at Canberra in the past so I think the issues run wider deeper than these two being off form and not managing to reproduce anywhere near what they are capable of. Players who are good quality rarely become poor overnight.
If whoever bring in can introduce systems that allow these 2 to flourish then Leeds will soon shoot up the table. Agar's biggest failing is that he wasn't able to.

| And given how inept this afternoons performance is was Agar the real issue?
Lot of money spent on that team, poorly it would appear no chance they’ll get relegated but it’ll be a rough season for them

| There’s something clearly not right. Whether that’s culture, unbalanced team or simply confidence I’m not sure.
Agar, as head coach had to assume responsibility, whoever replaces him has a lot of work to do.

There used to be an idea that coaches who were screwing up royally only needed to get the push, and the new guy, whoever he happened to be, would produce a dramatic victory in his first match simply because the team were relieved the old administration was gone. I'm pretty sure Brian Noble got an epic win over Huddersfield in his first game with a Wigan team that previously had lost fixture after fixture.
But that myth was exploded today. Sad, because I have no fondness for Castleford and I quite like JJB, but it looks as though the issues at Leeds go way deeper. It may well be that time may also be up for Gary Hetherington, who is as much an employee at Headingley as Richard Agar was.
One thing is certain, we can't keep declining as a domestic game. At present, we are uninspiring across the board. A really crap Leeds would only add to that.

The whole game would be better without Hetherington.

| Leeds will pick up as soon as Myler is back in the team. Walker for as athletic as he is cannot organise a defence and his passing is pathetic. He is playing the most important position in the team and he is not up to the job.
They had enough field position and ball today to make a game of it but they continually got outnumbered down one side and opened up at will by Cas. Whilst they wont be winning trophies once they get organised they will upset a few. Whoever gets the coaches job is getting a decent job because anything will be an improvement on this season
