Saturday is definitely better for me. Stuck in Larndon until 3.30pm on the Friday.

Didn't realise that there would be an up-side to finishing 2nd.

Assuming we finish second ... if we beat Saints do they get a second chance? Would assume that we do since we have finished in the top two?

they do, the move onto week 2 and play one of the teams in the 5/6/7/8th spot, whereas we would move on to week 3

If you look on the regular league rounds as fighting for top seed in the comp then the main adavntage is the 2 home games. If as expected 1 beats 4 and 2 beats 3 then 3 & 4 get another opportunity. The final could end up being between 2 teams that have already lost a game and by the same token you could miss out on the final by losing 1 play off game and having nothing more than home advantage as the reward for being a top seeded team.

With it now looking like we will finish second, does anybody know the play off dates? Wigan v Saints - will this be on Friday 16th September?

If you finish second you will play Saturday UNLESS Catalans qualify for a home game. They are getting the Saturday slot to allow for travel arrangements. Second place will then be 2.45pm Sunday

I suspect that if Catalan are at home - the 1v4 and 2v3 matches will go into the Sky double header on the Sunday (2:45pm & 5:15pm).

If Catalan finish 7th or 8th I suspect 1v4 will be Friday 8pm and 2v3 Saturday 6:45pm.

Catalans are guaranteed a home fixture aren't they as they can't finish lower than 6th!

Hull have a much superior points difference, if they beat Wire and Catalan lose to Salford then they will go ahead of Catalan.
But yeah it's pretty much nailed on, which is a bummer because Sunday is probably the only day I'll struggle to make.

Based on last years Play Off series i would imagine we would play Friday. This was the case last year. Saints finished 2nd with Warrington 3rd and this was the openenig game of the play offs with Wigan 1st v Leeds 4th on the Saturday.

City away is this weekend. Next weekend it's Everton at home on Saturday.

Assuming we made it to the qualifying semis the weekend before the Grand Final I hope and pray it's a Friday or a Sunday game. It's the girlfriends 30th on the Saturday night and short of getting everyone to go to the hospitality at the stadium at very short notice I'd have to miss the game.

The weeks before that don't really matter to me. I can make any day or time I think.

Catalan can be overtaken by Hull for 6th spot. (Huddersfield are already guaranteed 4th but the best Catalan can do is 5th ahead of Leeds)

If Catalan are playing at home they WILL be playing Saturday. The 2vSt Helens game WILL be switched to the 2.45 Sunday spot. 1vHudersfield WILL be playing Friday.

That wasn't how it was originally scheduled though, we were due to play Leeds on Friday but had to move it as Wigan Athletic played on the Saturday IIRC.

Correct. Part of the "rental agreement" is that Wigan Warriors are not allowed to use the pitch at the DW within 24 hours of Wigan Athletic playing on it. Wigan A had a Saturday home game so WW couldnt play on it on the friday night. (Note, the term doesnt work the other way and hence WW could play on the Sunday)
