| TBH I'd given up on Roberts, but if it's true he's only now recovered from that injury, he could be a very useful player in the run in.
The same applies to Fielden. I hope he can come back showing the same form as before the injury. I don't know who I'd drop for him though!
My team for the run in would be:-
Roberts (if fit and confident)
Charnley
Tomkins
Carmont
Richards
Sam
Finch
Mossop
Leuluai
Fielden (again if fit and confident)
Hansen
Hoffman
O'Loughlin
Subs
Coley
Hock
Lima
McIlorum

Well that explains why he has been almost anonymous in the U20's. I was perplexed as to why Amos did not at least stand out in the U20's. He is an awesome player when fully fit and firing. This at least goes some way to explaining it. Hopefully we'll see him pick up some form/confidence now as he has fully recovered. Wouldn't it be nice to see him carve it up in the latter half of the season with Hock and Fielden back.
Also Fielden is due back in 3-4 weeks, but may return earlier than that:
All our players seem to be coming back at exactly the right time. Selection headache for Madge who do you drop out of Lee Mossop, Paul Prescott, Jeff Lima, Andy Coley and Stuart Fielden? If Amos is ever fit and firing (ala 2010) does he come back at fullback with Sam moving to the halves? Who do you then drop Deacon or Finch?
I don't think we'll see Roberts return to that 2010 form this season. So the latter is not very likely, but Fielden's return to the side is. Who do you honestly drop? I can't pick any of them. Do you go with four forwards on the bench and let Leuluai play the full 80 at hooker? Or can you find a reason to drop one of them? Personally I would be tempted to move Leuluai to hooker for the 80 minutes and have four forwards on the bench.
1. Sam Tomkins
2. Josh Charnley
3. Joel Tomkins
4. George Carmont
5. Pat Richards
6. Paul Deacon
7. Brett Finch
8. Stuart Fielden
9. Thomas Leuluai
10. Lee Mossop
11. Harrison Hansen
12. Ryan Hoffman
13. Sean O'loughlin
--------------------------------
14. Andy Coley
15. Jeff Lima
16. Gaz Hock
17. Paul Prescott
I would definitely vouch for this team v Wire.'"
Totally agree with your conclusion. People are getting far too excited about Wire. Wire are a good side but Wigan have the best 17 as well as the best squad in the competition. In the forwards we are much better than any other side in SL and in Sam and Paaat we have the best two backs in the comp.
IF we play to our potential - there's the challenge for the lads and MM/SW - then I firmly believe that we will (not can, WILL) win the double this season. If we don't then we'll only have ourselves to blame (unless there's a freak injury crisis, which would have to be massive given the strength in depth we have).
Fear of failure rather than fear of the Wolfs is what should drive this team on, as it did with the great Wigan sides of the late 80s and early 90s.
As for Amos Roberts, he's a very talented player indeed and any team in the world would make room for a fully fit Roberts firing on all cylinders. If he can rediscover the form of early 2010 then the odds on Wigan to do that historic double would shorten still further.

Yet again some Wigan fans are quick to disregard the work done by our local players - in this case Prescott - who has done well this season and is at an age for a prop (25) where he, given the number of games he has under his belt (105 at the start of this season plus some on loan at Leigh), can really kick on now.

I knew after I'd posted Prescott would be mentioned, and I agree he is in the form of his life so far this season! But he also has age on his side, and with Mossop could go on in a few years to come and claim the 8 and 10 jerseys. The team I picked was a toss up between Prescott and Lima, I wouldn't be disappointed with any.

I don't think it's a case of quickly disregarding Prekky's input as it's plain to see the guy has been a monster whenever he plays (and is seemingly playing on the brink of fitness given the number of fitness tests he seems to have had before each of the past two games I think).
It's more a case of us having so many quality forwards that would walk into the majority of SL sides and some NRL sides too that makes it difficult to choose who to drop. I don't fancy being in Madge's boots when he has to tell one of them they're dropped

| Prescott has had fitness tests prior to the last two games, although he has played well in both. Perhaps they will rest him to bring Hock in this weekend.
If Tuson gets a ban then Faz to replace him!

I think rotation of the forwards could be a massive weapon for us for the rest of this year. We can not only keep everyone fresh but also keep them all on top form as they fight it out for a place in the big games.
Hopefully Prescott will push himself through this weekend as we will need him against a tough Huddersfield pack and then we can look to rest him next week. The options we'll have with Hock and Fielden back are fantastic.

Nice position to be in isn't it!
As previoously mentioned, will be a massive help when we play 3 games in a week - should keep the pack nice and fresh.

| Surely if Roberts wanted to prove his worth to Wigan, he could go back to being a kicker as well. On debut in OZ he still holds the NRL record for points in a debut, especially with his kicking. If he really wanted to show he has something to offer Wigan, then he should put himself forward as back up kicker. I fear that it may be time for him to look elsewhere.

Not in the squad apparently. Maybe he's in line for a recall to the first team 19 on Saturday? Don't see how anyone can be dropped though

| What puzzles me is, if he wasn't fully fit, why keep playing him? Playing a player whose speed and agility are a huge part of their game when they aren't fully recovered from a knee injury seems a little daft to me, especially after he was going to be judged on his his awesome performances at the start of last year. Indeed his lacklustre performances (which it seems are due to not being fully fit, which I think a large percentage of people realised) have led to him being criticised because he "isn't the same player as he was last year", I'm puzzled what the coaching staff expected?
