| All Brett is doing is looking after his own best intrests, this is likely to be his last contract for playing of any worth and he will try and get the best deal he can from whoever he can, afterall you are a long time retired. We should be glad he is in the form he is at the moment and hope he carries it to the end of the season, if there is a possibility we can compete with the NRL on an offer to retain him then that's a bonus. Let's enjoy the present and leave IL and SW to take care of the future.

Thats not strictly true, he is currently being chased by two top NRL clubs and I know for a fact he is keen on the idea, I also know for a fact he is really enjoying himself at Hull (moreso then he ever has at Wigan) and would be happy to stay there if the opportunity arose

To be honest I think that will be more to do with him getting first team football.
Would love him to sign for us, couple of areas to work on, but has all the makings of a top class FB. I think it will depend on what Wane intends to do with Tompkins.
Russell at FB and ST Tompkins at SO, is a very frighting though for oppositions fans, you would need an organising 7 though.

This sounds a bit like Solomona, who loved it so much at Wakefield - because he was just plain happy there, you know - that he would never consider leaving. Similar stories were told about David Hodgson at Salford. Shortly before he left.
I wouldn't always believe what players tell the fans.

The player didn't tell me, but that doesn't mean its not true as I assure you it is. Matty is very professional about it and I know he is also more than happy to return to wigan if and when he is needed. As far as I am aware though he is ooc at the end of the season so it will be interesting to see where he ends up

| Finch and TL will leave, i think Wigan are putting all their "HB cash" into acquiring a top 7, probably Brough or from the NRL.
1. Russell
6. Tomkins
7. Brough
Then they'll just have Lockers take first receiver on some plays to link Tomkins and co in on the overlap plays. I think Wane is dying to get both players in the team.

Good balance of organisation and creativity also. Would be great to have the attacking ability of Sam and Russell in the same side. Add a young English halfback on the cheap (or Powell/Logan) into the mix as a utility of the bench and it would be very effective

| Its not so much the fact Finch is likley to be leaving more the fact we are losing Finch, Tommy, Lima and probably Carmont. Any successful organisation needs to take into account progression planning. We dont know what IL is up too and I'm not someone who says we should, but from the outside to lose 4 key players is concerning. whats more concerning is that two of them are absolutely crucial to our success. think those who have said 'when it was announced tommy was going we shouldve tied finch up' have a very valid point.

too true, IL and SW will have plans in place as they know who is going and who is staying, why announce their plans to every other club in advance of 2013 when there is no need to. IL didn't become successful by letting grass grow under his feet

If we want him enough and he would leave that wouldn't matter. Sure we'd pay the transfer fee. Do we receive any fee for the Lima deal by the way or was it by mutual consent. If its the latter case, that's a bad piece of business because we could have used that fee toward a Finch/Tommy replacement

| I really dont see the fascination with Brough. He looks okay against poor team and goes missing in every big game I have seen him play. He has a good kicking game but is vastly overated.

I'm the same I couldn't see Brough winning games for us like Finch, Sam or Barrett have done for us over the years. He seems like a player who complements others very well but once the pressure is on and the team is getting beat he can't raise his game. From the rumours I've heard I'd be happy with:
1. Russell
6. Tomkins
7. Soward

| Brough hasn't really been in a top side. Huddersfield are ok to a point but as a team they can't compete against the likes of Wigan and Warrington. I think in a team with quality surrounding him and a brilliant dominant forward pack he could relish it

| I don't know if I've missed this on here.
"I've still To make a decision!
Obviously you'd think this is my last contract so I want to make sure I do the right thing by myself - and the club as well.
They've been great with me so hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later, whatever decision I make.
Finch hinted if he did leave, he would be returning to the NRL.
I think it's be hard to play against Wigan. It's be hard to leave this place. It's a really enjoyable place to work, a great bunch of guys." Brett Finch, Wigan Observer 2012

There's no doubting his love for the town and club I think if we could offer him the same money as an NRL club he would finish his career here but it's not a level playing field. I don't blame him for thinking about him self in this situation it's his career and it's going to end in the not distant future, what ever happens and where ever he goes he's given 100% for our club and I totally respect him for that.

| I thnk Finch let slip earlier this season that he found Madge's conservative style of rugby at Wigan as 'boring'. So he might prefer to live in Sydney but I think he much prefers Wigan's style of play under Wane. Also he'd get a longer contract by staying in SL.
