Its nothing to do with marketing. The whole concept is flawed and no matter how much marketing you use you cant polish a turd.

The squads for the 2nd game are woeful, the Exiles players dont even want to play in it as it means nothing and very few that do actually give 100%. They are not even representing anything and are playing for a made up concept that means nothing to them. This automatically takes away many of the so called benefits that it gives to the England side. McNamara says it is to give players a higher level of game but this is also false because he has already picked a more development team for the 2nd match and so it is no higher test at all, I would expect Wigan or Warrington to beat either of those squads easily. The concept really doesnt have a single thing going for it and is only going to get weaker in the coming years. The standard of Exile player has declined since last year and is going to decline markedly next season. When the new NRL TV deal kicks in it will then decline further. The concept is doomed and is a complete waste of time.

He's the scapegoat of the moment, it won't be long before SOL is filling the gap though. He will play as 6 like a 13 and will be disruptive to out patterns of play until he can learn to be as good a 6 as Tommy (who is clearly an out of position 9 going by some fans views).

Maybe the answer is to just put a 9 in as 6, hang on that could explain it. Tommy is a 9 in the southern hemisphere but when he's the right way up in the northern he's a 6!

The concept is not the best (where is the support for them to create a real atmosphere or passion amongst the players?) but the real problem is, timing. Not many supports want these games in the run-up to the CC semis and fighting for SL play-off spots. GET REAL RFL, and SKY!

As for Gelling, I hope he has a good one, but I won't say "break a leg".

Hock knocked on over the line and lost the ball at least 3 times in general play. Gelling was better than Hock tonight.

Hock is better than Gelling every other night.

Hock was poor, too, I admit, but none of his chances were as clear cut as Gelling's drop from Farrell's pass. If it was just one game, I'd agree, but it just happens too often.

Oh I totally agree but Gelling was not the worst player on the field tonight. Not by a long shot.

I also thought Hughes and Lloyd's defence was poor tonight. They fell off an awful lot of tackles. Lloyd seemed to sidestep into Kearney for his try scoring opportunity too.

Lloyd is not at Super League level yet and he's playing on the opposite side to what he's used to. As for Hughes, he doesn't defend that well at centre. Having Lloyd, O'Loughlin, Hughes and Charnley defending down the right hand side isn't ideal as they aren't familiar with each others game.

It's about time King got another chance. Pat is 3 weeks off fitness, I wonder if Waney will be tempted to bring him back early - for the semi final.

His selection for the Exiles cannot be based on the quaility of his performances.
