| I really do not know why if reports are true we have signed Bullock. Reports are that we are releasing Akuala, most fans moan he doesnt do enough but its more down to the coach not leaving him on due to trust i think. It seems that Bullock is much the same for you guys either not trusted by the coach or lazy depending on who you speak to. One common denominator is they both started out as wingers!
I'd actually prefer to keep Akuala than sign Bullock. No doubt you guys may say the other way round. All opinions.

as much as i like sita, his cardio hasn't improved at all over the last 4 years
he was bent over blowing out of his after five minutes last night and that was with the stoppage for tyke.
i like his hit ups, but theyre few and far between so are his minutes, but his suspension record is a bit daft as well, picks up bans with weird innocuous stuff.

Byrne should not be playing he is injured.

If you could transplant Partington's desire, fitness, commitment and tackling technique into Bullock then you would have one of the top props in the game.

| Our senior props, when there's only two, should be doing 50-60 mins. Havard & Byrne, should be doing 20-30 mins. Bullock's stats aren't bad for a 15 min and 5 min spell. The younger lads are flogging it tackling everything going but haven't any gas left to make meters. Havard being last night's exception.
We just don't have any outside backs to make meters out of our own 1-30 mtr area. Bibby, Isa & Marshall aren't big enough to do that. I still go back to Gelling & Charnley who made over 100 mtrs a game and sometimes 200 or near enough!
Thornley and the London wingman maybe are being signed to rectify that problem. With French and Field out there it maybe their pace could be used to put us on the front foot.
We certainly need new props but I have a feeling that this season we're going to have to go with what we've got. Many players sign but don't want news getting out as they are already playing at a rival SL club.
One thing the club must consider is how do they stop these dreadful performances. Poor team selection, poor to non existent game plan, 53% goal kicking, lack of go forward throughout the team and squad.
Watching these young lads getting battered every week is not pleasant viewing.
Only one thing seems to be left.............

I pretty much can get on side with this post but I can’t agree with Thornley/Miski as being the answer; two championship standard players? Nah.
I may be being harsh on Miski. In better times with better prospects I’d back his signing to be honest - my own hypocrisy isn’t lost on me - but with the way we’re looking, the assumed lack of proper squad investment and lack of competent coaches it’s hard to get on board with his and Thornley’s signing.

He’s not been in form but I’d be tempted to offer a deal to Liam Watts.

I'm not sure on the signing tbh.
Undoubtedly he's been a good player, but he's massively out of form, will be 31 in a week or two and I just don't think that, the way the club is, we would get the best out of him. It seems like loads of risk and we could potentially end up with yet another dead wood prop - see Singleton, Clark, Clubb, Burgess, Pettybourne, FNP,

I do see your point and to be honest I have no come back to it other than the good old ifs and buts system. But [iif [/iwe could pick him up on a decent deal for us he’d be worth a punt. Other than Havard I’d still rate him above any of our props

Yeah, it was kinda the same with Burgess last year. We could all see he was done, but [iwhat if[/i we could have got him back to fitness.
Can't help but think we massively missed out when we didn't get Mullhearn. He's not set the world alight, but he's better than what we have. You stick him next to Havard and another similar signing and all of a sudden the prop position isn't a massive issue. It wouldn't be as strong as others, but it's solid enough to let our other strengths (HB, 2nd row) be effective.

| It doesn’t look like we’ve been in for Hill and even if we had been, it sounds like he’s gone elsewhere. It would’ve been an easy win that signing. An experienced prop, who eats up the ground and would help guide the youngsters. Im not sure what we want in a prop if we fancied Singleton and fancy Nathan Mason but not Chris Hill. I can only think it’s about finance.

It's not a modern Wigan signing i.e he's too told and, as such, we won't even consider him.
Shame really as we've seen plenty of benefit from guys like Deacon, Withers and Mcavoy. Now I'm not saying the last two were great, but they steadied the ship when we needed an injection of experience. Hill would do that and more and it's what we need.

Mike McMeeken was from London Broncos when Castleford got him he turned out to be very good.

Mulhern has been very very good for us, whilst he's not international class at the moment, he's definitely what we needed in terms of a bench prop to do good minutes and take the pressure of hill and cooper, he adds some punch going forward, and finds the floor well. He's been a good acquisition.
Butler looks a little way off, however had a very good game v leigh the other night

Hill can’t be that expensive surely? A Wigan lad wanting to finish his career with us would’ve got it over the line.

Sounds like Wire offered him a deal, as well as HKR and Huddersfield, so that would drive it up a bit. I couldn’t see it being a fortune but on the flip side, I don’t think he’ll be on a low wage. I wonder with his affiliation with Wire and Leigh, if he’d have been that keen to come hear anyway, especially if he could get better money elsewhere. Guess we’ll never know but it feels like a chance missed to really help fix the prop issue for a couple of years.
