| Our last tackle options have been garbage for years and yesterday was the worst ever.
Passing the ball to players stood still / not expecting it.
Farrell's 3-4 awful punts to nothing.
Williams' two types of kick - scuffed grubber into defenders ankles or floated chip kick to opposition winger under no pressure.
Absolute dogmuck!

| Madge is part-time as Head Coach for NZ, surely we could entice him for the rest of the season, he would certainly sort the discipline and lack of effort out, and would clear out the dead wood straight away!

| The club needs to do what's best for the club. Wane is coming to the end of his reign, but ask yourself, would sacking Wane now cause more disruption and confusion to the set up? Possibly yes. Some players who are very pro Wane would be disgruntled, such major decisions should never be knee-jerk.
Spend the time wisely, find and appoint the best coach possible. Work with said coach behind the scenes in signing and building their Wigan. This is a lengthy process. Time needs to be taken to get it right to build the necessary foundations for years to come.

| Quote ="Bigredwarrior"No argument from me with this mate, it was a painful afternoon. The question I’d ask though, is if SW was sacked on Monday, how will that improve us for the rest of the season? It probably wouldn’t and we’d end up with John Winder in temporary charge so culturally, nothing will change.
We need to move on and get over it and quick but what yesterday showed us is that SW leaving is good for the club. We need something new, fresh ideas. Players leaving at the same time can be a real positive because the incoming coach will have some money to spend on players than can help make the changes the new coach wants.'"
I think the club so need to get a move on and announce the next coach though that may settle everyone down a little but truth is for me I’m not a fan of “long goodbyes” if you’re going then go but that’s just me.

| Id only sack Wane if the new guy is already agreed and free to come otherwise i dont see anybody within the club who could take over and do a better job. If theres any bright spot on the horizon its that Wane may get the players fired up for the end of year and barring a total disaster, we should be in the play offs and anything can happen then.

| Sack Shaun Wane and Joel Tomkins first thing tomorrow.
Sam will follow by leaving the club.
Get Maguire back on a good short-term contract until the end of the season.
Then get a long-term well researched Head that will take us forward.

| If we get a similar performance at Wakey on Thursday to the last two, I think Wane's position would become untenable.
In that scenario (and assuming any new coach isn't available yet) I would give O'Loughlin a go as player-coach for the rest of the season. It would be someone for the fans to rally behind and would also likely mean we have a coach in charge who would be respected by the players. A short-term solution only.
At the moment it feels like the season is very rapidly spiralling out of control and someone needs to say "enough!".

| The trouble at the moment seems to be “jobs for the boys”.
To many are being given promises they will still have a back room job after they retire.
How many back room staff do we need.
This means players are being retained past a possible retirement stage as employment is guaranteed.
I know this leads to system continuity but if it is failing now what’s the point.
Fresh outside thinking could ir usually improves things.
Think back Madge had no axe to grind and was free to have a clear out if he wanted.

2nd in the league with a 200+ points difference and 8 points clear of 5th. Have you gone completely puddled or just a half way?
As a club, we’ve had 2 bad weeks but that doesn’t mean the season is over. It means we’ve had 2 bad weeks. Talk about going over the top!!

| I am not arguing for SW to be sacked at this stage but it seems more than co-incidence that he announces he is leaving mid season (why not wait until season end??????) and that is immediately followed by two absolutely dire performances - the worry is that this announcement has totally derailed the confidence/spirit of the squad - although if it has it is unacceptably unprofessional.
The next game is a crucial one not just for the result but what kind of performance the team puts out (especially after the off-field incidents as well) and if it is another abject performance then the timing of Wane's announcement and his continued role as coach should be up for discussion.
I think a lot is now down to the players to actually show some pride in the club.

| Good grief.
Wigan are in a commanding position in the league. A soft run in compared to Saints so could even make top before the split....other than being kicked out the CC by a pre Magic CC favourite, Wane doesn't seem to be doing an awful lot wrong, especially when his team has been running a prop light all season...you can lay blame at IL for that not SW.

Up to Magic weekend Wigan playing well, winning games, scoring lots of points, second in league two point behind Saints with a game in hand......all looks good , then
Wane announces his resignation.
Awful performance (perhaps with mitigation) against Hull Kr, absolutely dire performance and dumped out of CC against Wire and then another bad performance against Wakey - team struggling to score, soft in defense and looking lost no direction and attack completely lost.
Co-incidence??????? If it is then there is something else going on....

I get your point completely but as professional players this shouldn’t be affecting them as bad as it either is or something else behind the scenes is.
They should have more professionalism and more about them than this.

No those are tough games against teams in form and confident at the best of times - with the way the team is currently playing getting anything out of those games is going to be a challenge.
Unless there is a major change in performance some of those could be very tough (or even potentially embarrassing, Saints could have a field day against the team at present).

| The key issue here is that those bar Hull are home games. Wigan seldom lose at home regardless of away form....you lost 3 away games in around 12 days and the Wigan bench is weak.
Wigan need this extended week to get some belief back. A win at Hull would be a massive result and suddenly it's all on again...even with if a loss at Hill...the home ties will put this straight.
Saints have it all to do with leeds Wire and Wigan.
