Let’s not forget that Edwards did a 30 minute interview on Sky saying he was excited to become the Wigan coach. I very much doubt that would have happened if he hadn’t at least agreed the terms etc. We can say that Wigan announced him (which we did) but why would he have done the interview if the deal wasn’t done?

I have to say that I'm utterly bemused by the individuals on here who seem hellbent on exonerating Shaun Edwards from any blame in this - not the Warrington trolls; they are transparently trying to cause trouble and aren't worth engaging. But the Wigan fans. It's reached the point where I'm quite suspicious about their motives.

It's very apparent that SE was heavily involved in promoting this deal both in newspapers and on TV, so if there was any kind of deception, he 100% participated in it.

I guess you guys are just going to have to wait and see, Edwards has said he hasn't signed, not that he isn't going to.

I think the new Wales coaches comments confirms Edwards has been tying himself up in a few knots telling porkies here and there. That’s not to say Wigan are blameless as you don’t say somebody has signed a contract when they’ve not but there’s no way Edwards is a victim in all this. It’s clear the bloke has tried to use us as a fall back option in case nothing better came along IMO. That’s pretty poor form from somebody who is still seen as a hero to many around these parts.

I haven't commented so far but privately in discussion with others my first reaction was that no-one looks good or comes out of this with any credit.

What I will say though is I echo your sentiments about our own "Fans". As you said the other day in one reply about posters who have tried to criticise the running of the club, Wane, KR, IL, etc for the past 5/6 years they "May" actually be right for once.
But I wouldn't guarantee it, and as I say now and again, even a blind squirrel will find nuts once in a while if it tries hard enough.

I'm not sure it would be that easy for him to coach Wigan now. Every time he picked up the phone, we'd be wondering if he was after another another job. We had enough of that with Nobby (and he was another one who immediately took his grievances to the press).

The more i see this unfold the more i think my source was on the money.

Wigan didnt have him sign a contract. Why on Earth not? But they announce he had signed a 3 year contract

Edwards now says he needs more time despite parading around in a Wigan polo and acting like it was all a done deal.

Seems to me like both sides are now crossed chocolate.

I don't understand Shaun if all this is to be believed. Why say there was no contract signed if there was? It's a matter of legality, what was he thinking? He's a Wigan legend, he's literally running the risk of throwing it all away for what? If he didn't want the job, shouldn't have just declined the offer from the get-go and kept his dignity.

I just want this matter over and done with so we can begin to find who will coach us in 2020.

There was no contract signed. Thats pretty much concrete now.

Where did this uncertainty stem from in the first place? Was it Edwards with comments to the press?

This is the equivalent of making yourself available on LinkedIn and uploading your CV onto job boards. The only certainties Edwards is providing is that he is 100% available and not committed to anything yet, which after the announcement from Wigan - signed or verbal, there was clearly an agreement in place - is really bad form (to put it mildly) from Shaun.

I would 100% walk away from this "deal" and sign someone else. Absolute Derrick.

This is so obvious to me that I'm surprised he thinks the ball is still in his court.

I can't imagine that any Wigan fans will want someone so untrustworthy at the helm of their team.

We shouldn’t give him time to think. Do it for him and move on to look for someone else. He’s disrespecting Wigan but more so Rugby League - the recent statements seem to back up the source that we’ve been played.

Well I'm going to be different here I hope he is the next Wigan coach I personally think he will do well but that's just my blinkered opinion of someone I watched growing up! What ever happens i just hope it's for the best for the Wigan club lets get it sorted and look forward sick of all the doom and gloom atm

Cut ties now and leave him in Union. Rugby League and Wigan deserve better than this!
