I hate hock so have no hidden agenda but surly banning him for 2 years then letting him come back sweeping the matter under the carpet is a negative approach.

If Hock was banned from today, he will be a couple of months short of his 28th birthday when he is eligible to play again, assuming that he has a contract sorted for when any ban ends. So he will be entering the season when he will become 29 when he is due for any sort of prolonged rugby.

I know his body will be in better shape than some, but a comeback from a two-year lay off at nearly 29 sounds career ending as far as the top flight is concerned. Some of the smaller clubs might be interested, but I can't see you or any of the big money clubs willing to risk much money on him. He has blown it big style.

That **** Ryan Hudson was older than Hock when he got banned. But he came back.

Look at Wendell Sailor - much older AND had been playing RU before his Hock Break - not many problems getting a gig once his ban ended.

But Hudson had only just started at a big club, Bradford, when he was banned, and had come from a small club. He had to go to a small club when he came back, Huddersfield (they were smaller then), and has ended up back at Cas.

At Wigan, Hock is top flight and top money. He won't command offers anywhere near what he will be on now in a couple of years time. (By top flight, I meant at a bigger club, not below Super League - my mistake).

This will be a lesson for any young player.

one reason i would stop and think before sacking him is the fact. there will be no morals shown by the rest of the league when his bans up and there all knocking on his door.

rightly the club will sack him..but its the club and fans being hurt here.

IF (and thats a big if) he manages to reform himself and get away from the scrubbers he hangs around with from Norley and sort himself out, we should keep his registration and bring him back after any potential ban

he is an awesome talent with a ridiculously small brain. if the club can educate him properly (like they should have been doing for the last 6 years) then, as a player, im 100% confident he can be saved

I don't think age or time out of the game would do anything to Hocks playing abilities tbh.

He's always been a physical freak with unbelievable strengh for the size of him and that wouldn't change with an enforced lay off.

If you look at Hocks career though it's always been destined to be abit of a waste with long injury lay off and lay offs through suspension making it to stop start affair and this will continue that trend.

He'll be back because at the end of the day if clubs are willing to take on a player thats glassed his own girlfriend they'll take on a lad thats been taking banned substances.

Real shame because Gareth Hock is one of the most talented players at the club and one of our best players. A wigan lad as well.
