| Quote ="NickyKiss"I don’t think we’ll have to worry anyway, there’s no way Wane will pick him or any other non British born players anyway. Even if Lomax is badly injured, Dodds is out and even if a few more followed them on to the sidelines, I think he’d cobble together something from what’s left.'"
You're no doubt right. The only thing to change that with Waney is his desire to beat the Aussies. Would anything stand in his way of that? If Hastings rips it up in the NRL and becomes the stand out half, would that be enough to change his mind?

| He is going over for the NRL Magic round and has said he’ll be keeping an eye on Hastings, so you never know but I still can’t see it. On talent alone he’s worth a place in the squad is Hastings.

| Can I just say I don't think he has been that amazing for Wests? They are such a rabble this season, so anyone who can bring a semblance of order, and also, crucially, take some of the pressure off Brooks, is very welcome. Wests fans may be happy for now, but for how long?

Agreed.
He just isn’t that creative, managing games and setting plays up.
He’s very involved & gives 100%, but it’s quality over quantity imo. All he did yesterday was lots of catch and pass without much creativity, creating gaps, linking up with his 1 or 6.

| Absolutely. I thought watching him, it's the same old, same old with Hastings. Plenty of effort and involvement, but not much creativity. Or much pace, which matters in the NRL.

| Victor Radley was asked on the Matty Johns Show about him playing for England (his Dad's English). Didn't rule it out, but did say it would prevent him from playing Origin so it wasn't something he wanted to do now.
Would he even get into an England team?

He'd be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me. Fantastic player and getting better all the time. Hits like a sledgehammer and now developing the ball skills to go with his defence.

If it’s not something he wants to do now, then it’s something that should never be an option for him. It says all we need to know.

| Agree with you regarding Cust. Manly's loss is Wigan's gain. Great to see he is still playing at elite level in RL rather than his talent being wasted in NSW Cup.

| Watching the first half of the Catalans game you wouldn’t even know he is playing.
He also looks to have added a good few pounds but not in a positive way.
With Lomax struggling with a detached bicep and Williams current form it really doesn’t bode well for the World Cup for England.

Victor Radley would walk into the England team. He’s an A+++ player.
Please don’t say you think Farrell is better because that is just laughable

Farrell plays SR, Radley plays LF.
No way he gets in above the great Morgan Knowles.

| Back on topic the half back options for the WC don’t look great at present.
St Helens look to be going down the road of flogging Lomax then having surgery once their season finishes, I’d be surprised if he is available.
Williams’ form is very poor, as are most of the rest of Warrington at present. There’s plenty time for that to change though.
Gale is in and out of the Hull side, I’m not sure how good an option he is anyway.
Widdop (see Williams)
Aside from that it is a host of untried, younger players, or playing someone out of position. Some have potential, and a lot of it, some I don’t think are international standard, Trueman, Pryce, Abdull, Smith, O’Connor, Tomkins or Sneyd.

My husband said much the same thing if he’s Englands starting halfback in the form he’s currently in then the national side has problems

Has Radley ever power walked a 30 metre try in against Saints though?

| The halves for England will be very interesting. There’s no way you could pick Williams or Widdop at the minute, Woolf will pull Lomax out and Dodd is injured, so that leaves very little to choose from. It’s looking likely Tomkins will be pushed in there but you still need a partner. Wane may need to go against his instincts and pick Hastings or they may need to go for a left field youngster like Mikey Lewis, Harry Smith or Olly Russell. The only other option I can think of is Jake Trueman.

| Well thtey *could* play Connor in the halves, even if Wane is unenthusiastic. He is a talented play-maker, but please, keep him away from full-back; he is nowhere near quick enough.

Imagine him at fullback with Addo Carr in full flight
I wouldn’t be against him and Tomkins at 6 and 7 though. That is plenty skilful enough and would be pretty creative.
