Any new coach who comes in at the moment does so knowing they are unsackable.
IFL needs to show some leadership and strength and make a statement by doing what needs to be done.
As I said above he also needs to let Rads go too.
New broom required at all levels.

| Quote ="100% Warrior"Can’t knock your optimism and I want to be able to believe you. But I can’t. It feels almost delusional, and that’s not said in a derogatory way towards you. Paul Sculthorpe nailed it with his comments on our pack and Lam aside that’s a huge issue. We have no go forward whatsoever from our props who throw in the occasional half decent drive. Hastings/Smith can’t play off the back of that.
We may rid ourselves of Lam but we’d still have the pack issue and that alone IMO stops us winning a GF if we could ever even be back in the race.'"
I am in no way saying it’s likely but i think there is a chance. We came within a whisker of winning last year and our pack was no better than this year, probably worse.

| I’ve asked this on a previous thread and got no responses. Who would you all bring in to replace Lam?
Would you go down the Saints model of NRL assistant coaches or the Warrington model of coaches from superleague Mid table teams?

| If Matty Peet is at the helm after Lam, I can’t see anything changing. Peet, Winder, Lockers, Leuluai and Goulding are all entrenched in the current systems and culture at the club and a complete change is required, supported by investment in the squad.
Not many people have backed Lammy more than me but I’m left bereft of any optimism this season. I’m not sure he’ll be sacked but we are desperate for changes, and soon!

NRL without a doubt. Last season I’d have said Ian Watson but I’m thinking we were prudent not to have moved for him. Danny Ward has lots of potential but I’d still want an NRL assistant to come over and rejuvenate the club ala Michael Maguire.

A coach needs an aura they need to be respected.
It’s a somewhat anecdotal point but seeing Lam in skinny jeans, winkle pickers, shirt and jacket purchased from Mothercare after the game I did wonder if he had turned up to send his team to war with our fiercest rivals or go up town for a couple of Babychamps with the rest of his 19 year old “crew”.

There isn't one ready at the min.
You look at the coaching movements over the last 24.months, all the good assistants have been given a shot. We're prob looking 24 month's before there's someone ready too cherry pick.
I wish we'd have signed McDermott a few months ago. He'd have settled us for this year and made it a lot easier for whoever replaces Lam. We certainly wouldn't have turned out a performance like that under him.

I know nothing of the NRL so that’s news (and a surprise) to me. I agree re McDermott and in all honesty I’d take him on a 2yr deal at the moment.

I might be wrong and others might know better than me, but there's certainly a few names who've either stepped up or are due to step up next year.
I guess it's a case of, how many options are there.

The only ones I know of who would have fitted the bill were Demetriou and Fitzgibbon both of who have signed Head Coach deals for next season (I think). Other than that I’ve no idea. I’d imagine there is someone but if what you’re saying is true, and I’ve no reason to doubt that, that’s question and concern is; is he ready? If the answer is no the only viable option IMO is Brian McDermott.

| I’m in agreement, for a number of reasons this season is a write off.
If indeed Peet is to take over next year with SOL and TL then we need to make that change now.
I also agree with the idea we need someone from outside to bring in fresh ideas, whether that be as an assistant or head depends on who is available. I’d welcome McDermott, even if it was until the end of the year to stabilise things a bit.

We know though who it is and good look to him, he’s earned his shot.

| Rads time to show he’s ruthless enough for this job is right now. The only reason not to get rid of Lam is that he’s Rads mate and Rads doesn’t want to risk a friendship. He was brought in as a caretaker and had stayed for nearly three seasons. The whole Edwards/Lam debacle continues to bite us and it’s blotted what’s been an incredible time for Ian Lenagan here.

I’ve backed against us on the handicap virtually every game this season and I’ve hardly lost.
Saints tonight with just giving 6 was like printing money.
We are total shoite but KR and IL are so wound up with pish poor finances and a new landlord basically taking the pish that they are seemingly oblivious that our on field issues are even worse.
IL should go before his successes are obliterated by a coach who prefers the bar to the paddock.

I’m confused as to why Rads should not be held accountable.
He’s out of his depth.
His first job as a sports administrator is at one of the biggest brands in rugby league.
Can you imagine anyone with his CV who hadn’t played for Wigan walking into that job?

I’ve supported Rads on many occasions but it’s tough to defend him anymore. In a position of responsibility like that, I should be able to point to some real successes for him in the last few seasons but what has there been?
It’s little surprise he’s a Shaun Wane fan, looking at how things have gone since 2018.

Every single person at the club from IL to the guy who washes the kit should always be accountable.
I can't remember which podcast it was, but the topic was about developing a winning culture and how the Storm do it so well. Basically it's because every hire and every decision that is made is geared towards being the absolute best RL team out there. The culture of the place is driven from route to branch. IL used to talk about the 'wigan way' and I honestly believed it. Him, Madge, Wane, Bitcon + great players - you could see it wasn't just a marketing slogan, it was real. Tangible standards from the top down and ground up.
