Just want to add that that was by far and out the best game of rugby league I’ve watched in a long time. Absolutely superb game. I think both sides made some poor game management decisions but I can’t sit here and say any player has walked off that pitch leaving anything on there.

Regroup, reassess and go again in 2021.

Our game management is terrible and always has been.

Cost us the semi final in 2012, the shield and the final in 2015 and has cost us the final tonight and not just that last moment either.

Definitely need a fresh kicker next year stupid idea to kick from that distance go for 6 more tackles then drop goal

Some team you guys have, young, ferocious, brilliant and will only get better I’m in awe of your defence tonight saints had all the ball and I know it’s not going to sit right with you but you’re the benchmark for next year you’re young forwards are another year on and Hastings will get better.

Never seen a coach that emotional. Shows how much it means to him also. Its all very hard to take, best off aying nothing tonight other than congratulations to Saints.

Commiserations, that's a body blow of a way to lose a match, but you helped produce an absolutely enthralling match, a wonderful advert for the game and something I hope will attract lots of new fans to the game because that was awesome drama.

We don't know that the call came from Hardaker to kick, but at the end of the day, that game was won by fine margins.

Still, it feels harsh to lose by such a fine margin. I don't expect to get a positive response, but was French not taken out off the ball?

Beat me to it...never a penalty. Not bitter in the slightest, but Saints really didn’t deserve that. If Fages doesn’t give JH a slap and has a paddy nothing happens there...touch judge jumped in to give it after Kendall originally called no penalty.

Actually it was an Amateur decision.

C’mon guys we lost, let’s not start looking for excuses. We had more than enough chances to win the game but didn’t take them. Credit to both teams that was a fantastic game of rugby league.

Zak won Cas two games with penalties from our own half.
One very similar away at Catalans with a minute or so to go.
He can make the distance, but just didn’t this time.

Just another big game lost when all is said and done. Played our part and the rate of improvement has taken us to a chance of keeping us in with a shout in the future. We just lack something to get us over that line like the Noble years.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Did I expect him to make the kick?no. Would I have fancied one of our team to kick a drop goal with loads of pressure?no. I think the right decision was probably made. Fans would have moaned had we kicked in the corner and lost. It was so unlucky, French had a bit of a mare at the end but Hardaker hitting the bar and Hastings being harshly penalised made the difference.
The match itself was great, our defence was amazing, we should be up there next season.

Beyond gutted but what a game, congrats to Saints

I’ve always said Smithies will cost us a big game sooner or later with his stupid penalties. Tonight was the night , absolutely no need to put the shoulder in . I fail to see what he offers to be honest
The pen against Hastings was harsh and the decision to go for two at the end was plain wrong
Saints were never on side all night but neither were we to be honest
We were getting the ball out wide well but Bibby bombed a few chances before he grabbed his try. It was crying out for a change , we should have put Zak full back , Bibby centre and French on the wing . French showed tonight why he doesn’t play NRL against defences like that week in week out .
Tommy had a good game . Powell was unusually quiet in attack .
Gildart played well and I thought Partington was outstanding . Greenwood didn’t looked too bothered , a waste of space at times. Isa has been great all season and hit anything that moved tonight
Saints defended fiercely and rode their luck a couple of times . The game really could gone either way but what a sickening way to lose

What a game, Wigans defence was incredible your attack was better than ours, you looked far more dangerous than we did.The end well you wouldnt believe it if it had been written in Hollywood.
For me there was nothing to choose between the sides what an advert for Rugby League, the League leaders V the Champions the 2 best teams in Superleague in a final with nothing to choose between them.
A bit of magic and luck decided the final.

Yes, a really good contest. I thought there might at least be some discussion as to whether French was taken out. It didn't look that much, but I think it it was two players running side-by-side and the defender elbowed the attacker out of the way, he'd be penalised, and told you can only use your shoulder! Which is a bit of an anomaly itself, but still.
