| Quote ="Grimmy"IMO it sends the message that name matters more than form if he walks straight back in. The lads aren't daft, they'll know if he plays reserves this weekend they'll need to be on their game to keep their spot the week after. If he comes straight back in and plays like he did against Warrington then fans will really start to turn on him and confidence becomes a factor.'"
Wigan don't have a reserves game this weekend. The next one is Leeds away on the 7th March.
In fact we only have two reserve games in the next month, I'm guessing that's why Kilner and Wells have bee allowed to go out on a months loan.

Clubs don't put players crippled with an injury out onto the field of play.

| Burgess - watched by older brothers Sam and Luke - lasted 18 minutes on debut before being rested and didn't get back on, as he nursed a hip injury which kept him out of Wigan's pre-season matches.

| George Burgess likely to play on Sunday according to Lam, not sure that’s the smartest decision but if he drops Clubb for him he can’t produce much less

Not a chance he was getting back on, injury or not. He was appalling.

He should've been pulled off before BMM put him on his backside, it was painful watching him.
Hopefully he's at least healthy because he must be a million miles off match fit.

| Unpopular opinion, Clubb was much much improved against Hull and should keep his place.

I'm with you on this. I've been pretty critical of Clubb these last few weeks but I think his performance against Hull was his best so far this season. His minutes on the field is increasing too (20 mins in the first and around 13-14 in the second half IIRC).

| I find Lams approach weird, “George Burgess 60/40 to play, Ben Flower 50/50, if there fit they’ll be in”
What’s the rush, if they’re a doubt on the Wednesday surely that won’t mean there fully fit on the Sunday.
Not exactly desperate for them to return. Props all went well last week.
Especially in GBurgess case I’d be bringing him back next week. Home to Hull KR one of the easier fixtures this year

I agree, and next week the reserves have a game away at Leeds, so Flower or Burgess could get a game (or half a game each) there.

| Has Lam not learnt his lesson playing players too early with George Burgess? That performance is only bettered by Andy Powell as the worst performance in a Wigan shirt I’ve ever seen. And if Flower has been out for a long time then play them both in the reserves first instead of embarrassing them and himself by playing them in the first team straight off. It knocks their confidence and makes people think Lam hasn’t a clue.

| I agree. There’s no need to rush them back. If we were struggling at prop I’d see the sense in it but the fact is we’re not. We’re going quite well in that department. If they’re 60/40 or 50/50 now - they aren’t fit for the game on Sunday.

They can like it or lump it, they need to prove their fitness especially Burgess. Can’t just accept his word on his fitness, not after Warrington Jesus wept.

| Heard there is only 2 coaches so far filled for the short trip over wondered as Wigan usually travel well if fans are saving it for a more winnable game as the formidable Giants on their unbeaten run look unstoppable, Hail Sezer.
Only joking of course can't wait for what should be an excellent show of rugby league from 2 in form teams.

| Is Joe Burgess's attitude in question when Manfredi is selected in front of him because Manfredi is some way below his previous best.

Wow, I’m honestly stunned by this.
Burgess has struggled for form. I certainly wouldn’t question his attitude. If anything he might be guilty of trying too hard? Marshall is in far better form.
Manfredi has played a handful of games in 3 years but you say he’s below his previous best? Of course he is! Give him 8 weeks in the side and he’ll be the best winger in the competition if he avoids injury!
