| Edwards without a doubt.
So what if hes been out of the game for years? Apart from some small rule changes, the game is still the same game and nobody was tactically better than Edwards as a player. John Monie often said it was like having an extra coach on the field when he was playing. Throw the money at him.

Still the same game? I have to disagree there. The sterile stuff on offer these days is miles away from what I remember watching.

| On SKY tonight they are saying Leeds will have a pressy Friday 10am to announce who will coach the club to the end of season.
They will also make a significant statement about the coach from 2019.
Barrie McD thinks coach next year will be Furner.

| We just have to have confidence in IL and KR to get our appointment right. It shouldn’t impact on us who goes to Leeds unless they have nicked in and snaffled our man but I doubt we’d ever know for sure if that happened. That said, I can’t wait to see who we end up with, I’m like an excited child waiting for a present!

Doesn't Barrie McDermott work for Leeds as part of the youth system? I doubt they would want him revealing the next coach on SKY prior to their press conference. I would think him saying that makes it less likely that Furner will be the Leeds coach. Otherwise he has stolen his employer's thunder by ruining their announcement.

| For Leeds to be in a position to announce their new coach just 4 days after sacking McDermott suggests they knew for a while he’d be going. Perhaps they knew even before Shaun Wane announced he was going, putting Leeds in pole position for any potential replacements?

| Confirmed Sinfield DoR and James Lowes first team coach until the end of the season. Sinfield will stay on and a new Head Coach will come in next season. IMO.

Totally disagree that it's still the same game. It's changed massively in the last 10 years, never mind the last 20. Not experienced enough to be a Head Coach, and would surely want too much money to make it worth him being Assistant Coach.

Totally disagree. He has a pure rugby brain regardless of code. Because he hasn’t been directly involved in RL doesn’t mean he hasn’t watched it and studied it and certainly doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand it. His player management is first class and his experience of managing elite athletes is impressive. With the right assistant coach and Lockers by his side he’d be my first choice by a country mile. Completely fresh view from the top down with some new players to suit it.

| The game has changed massively from his playing days. However I'm sure if Edwards is in the frame, I'm sure hes already educating himself and speaking to God knows how many coaches. He spent time with Wayne Bennett years ago didn't he? I'm sure they would have kept in touch and share all kinds of information. Someone like Edwards who lives and breathes rugby won't be far off knowing what's changed and what hasn't and what modern coaches bring to the game compared to what he would bring.

So even if Edwards is the best man for the job, or Lam, Furner or Barrett, they should all be avoided because they have a history with Wigan? I just don’t get that at all.

Nope not at all as none of those that you mention with exception of Edwards are wiganers. I just don’t want to get a manager who can only relate to a Wigan accent and who tries to fill the team full of wiganers because it’s what Wigan wants. I want to watch the best talent that’s available, if I want to watch a team full of wiganers I’ll go to watch Pats, Bridge or Jude’s.
That’s not being disrespectful to local lads but not everyone will turn into a Shaun Edwards, Andy Gregory or Andy Farrell. We need a mix of local, national and international players and sadly I don’t think Edwards is the man to do that IMO

I don’t understand why you think Edwards would try to get a team filled with local lads? The club has proven that whilst we depend heavily on local talent, they’ll bring in players who are deemed right for the club. Clubb, Sarginson, Flower, Hardaker, McIllorum, Bateman, Leuluai, Hamlin, Gelling, FPN to name just a few.
Salary cap dictates that we need to develop players as much as possible and support them with good signings from elsewhere. The days of Brett Kenny and Gene Miles are long gone and we can’t possibly compete for the world’s best players any more.
I believe wholeheartedly that Edwards would be instrumental in changing the way we play for the better and would have us competing for honest consistently.

What possible evidence exists to even remotely indicate that would happen?
Seriously. I’m confused as to why that would be even mentioned by you.
Talk about just conjuring an opinion based on nothing other than a preconceived notion.

| Quote My choice would be Edwards but not at the cost of an interim coach. My reasons for wanting him?
I was lucky enough to watch Edwards make his debut and watched his entire career. I’ve yet to see a player with a better rugby brain than Edwards and I’m 100% sure he’ll have kept up with the game and still watches it when he can. He’s been out of the game but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand it.
He went to RU and won 3 x premierships. He went to Wales RU and was described as the biggest ever loss to English rugby. His player management is renowned as first class and he’s a Wigan fan. What more could we ask for? If he’s supported by people like Lockers, there will be sufficient continuity but with an entirely new approach and I’d be intrigued to see how it went. One things for sure, his appointment would certainly put bums on seats and bring fans back through the turnstiles.'"

100%
However in order to form an opinion you at least have a duty to base that opinion on somthing tangible. If possible it would also be good if you could share that thought process with the rest us us. In turn we can then debate or agree on why such a thing has been said.
Without any form of reasoning the thing you are saying is pretty worthless.
So
Please tell us why, in your opinion, would Edwards create a jobs for the boys environment?

| Edwards over Lam for me. I don't know if Lam has changed since his time at Wigan as a player, but he was VERY much jack the lad. I know of lots of stories involving Lammy, he very much embraced the fun side of being a RL name in a small town. Was a bit of a wild man.
