Should I go on?

I sympathise with long-distances fans like EW who've been hit in the wallet; if it wasn't the weekend after the WCC, I could have easily been one of them. I don't think it's a matter of IL 'growing a pair' though. Unfortunately, as long as we are tenants, this kind of situation is going to crop up from time to time.

At the very, very least (and this in no way makes it right) the football club should reimburse the Warriors for any fines they may get from the RFL.

Points should be awarded to Widnes and a big fine for Mr Pushover.

It's alright folk having their own opinions , which they are entitled to,but no one has raised the obvious point.

Last year when the pitch was relaid it was said by those responsible that the work done would solve the problem once and for all.

It now seems obvious that this hasn't been successful yet again. so it seems once again you know who has ignored advice about proper drainage in an area of town which isn't called Marsh Green for nothing.

We used to play our games for school there and even in those days the pitches in that part of robin park flooded at the slightest sight of rain.

It's about time the bullet was bitten once and for all and the entire area dug up and replaced with proper drainage etc. If it means both clubs playing games away from home for a period then so be it.

It's not that simple though. In Premier League Latics had 19 home matches. Since relegation they have 23 home matches. The extra four make fixtures harder to work round, and especially now we have to have the regular season completed by mid July rather than September. With the mid season break from home matches to contend with as well its far far harder to work round.

When the game is rescheduled it is pretty much guarenteed to be a midweek fixture and the whole thing will kick off again because of fans unable to attend for different reasons .

Just looking at your fixtures, I note that you have 5 away fixtures on the bounce in June and July. Is that not at the request of Wigan athletic to relay the pitch?

Which limits means there'll be a number of weekends where you both play?

Simply tell them that relaying the pitch has failed to provide any difference year on year out, and we will be playing on it. Don't care how much they have spent, whoever they are, but the evidence is there for us to see, it doesn't work.

Why couldn't you play the game at Leigh over the weekend?

It seems an embarrassing statement and pure conformation that your second fiddle to the blue side of the Town!

Because logistically you can't move a game to another stadium with 48 hours notice.

Like many on here I agree that this is a complete and utter farce.

Going off the statement from Widnes it looks like they aren't happy either.

Hope we get a points deduction. Will let Lenegan and Sharpe ( very appropriate name) know how the fans feel. Widnes don't deserve the hassle, totally not their doing. Embarrassed to be a Wigan fan today.

When was the last time that any game of professional football was postponed 36 hours before kick off time due to a waterlogged pitch unless it was several inches under water?

Personally I would give Widnes the points in a heartbeat.

Hey ho!!! Another day . Hope Mr Lennigan didn't loose too much sleep last niğt wondering which Football League games to go and watch this weekend that would be a shame .
Maybe he was up thinking about global expansion of Superleague and hatching some cunning plan to play the resheduled Widnes match where no one can watch it or would want to watch it .

Wigan should be fined and forfeit the game 2 points awarded to Widnes and the fixture deemed as played .Wigan will lose revenue and then they will think again about cancelling fixtures.

I would hope this isn't down to last Sunday. Yes I expected a tired performance but if we can't back up an effort like that against Widnes at home at this stage of the season with limited injuries then something is wrong. We are now in the situation where we are gonna play 3 fixtures in 7-9 days,surely that's much worse?

As an outsider, would your chairman not have consulted the RFL before doing this??

I find this all a bit odd. Often one of the big issues from the fans point of view is we get a snippet of information to make a judgement from without being party to the full facts which often leads to the wrong conclusion.

I'd be shocked if the RFL were not involved, I can't see how a club can call a fixture off without approval from the RFL so unless we did, though i understand your point I can't see how we can be docked points, unless of course someone comes up with an idea such as breaching the spirit of the fixture list.

Bottom line is if whoever is in charge of preparing the pitch, whom I would have to assume has all the relevant knowledge and skills has judged the pitch cannot handle 2 games then one has to be called off. Given that we are the tenants and the company that own the stadium favour the football club there's little doubt who's match would have to be postponed.

I'm pretty sure the RFL have been consulted along the way.

What makes you think they haven't been?

And what do you think the other clubs would think of that? What if Widnes make the top 8 or top 4 on the strength of those two points meaning that a club ends up in the middle eights or loses a home game in the super eights? If Wigan did not consult the match commissioner or the RFL then they should be fined heavily at least.

How someone can the pitch looked o.k as they walked past it beggars belief. How close were they 50 - 100 yards. My back garden looks ok this morning but when I actually stand on it it's sodden.
