Honestly, I don't know the reasons why but Carter is an honest bloke (almost to a fault) and has nothing to gain by saying that if it's not true.

Like I say, the only thing that would make sense is if the rest is mandated by the RFL to go to specific purposes.

Maybe some clubs should merge, that may help with financing a competitive team....

Just wanted to highlight its not lack of ambition or financial mismanagement that means that certain clubs can't spend up to the cap. As a club without a sugar daddy -we for example just don't have enough punters coming in the gates to top up the gap. Carter has said if we can shift 4-5k season tickets, we could spend to cap. At the moment we are doing about 2.5k so a way to go yet.

More consistent performance over a number of season could build crowds, Trinity have struggled to build on any good seasons they have had. There looks to be some good young talent, it might be hard to keep hold of them. I think you will be top 8 again.

Yeah hopefully, bit of a chicken and the egg scenario really. Can't spend cap to get good performances, hard to increase crowds losing most weeks.

Hopefully we can "do a Cas" they came back from 3500k fans, into top 6 contenders and up to 6 - 8k attendances.

We seem to have recruited well but I never take anything for granted as a Wakey fan



FWIW - I reckon your lot are clear favourites for the title, none of the other big boys have recruited that well and as long as you stay injury free - I'd stick plenty on a consecutive GF appearance at least.

Would have thought the reasons for the lack of marauee signings were pretty obvious

top NRL players get paid around £700k a year, which is more than most SL clubs could afford
Then, even if you could pay, you are unlikely to be able to attract anyone that is anywhere near an origin shirt (which they are also paid handsomely for btw)

Many clubs will have a marquee player but the only proper marquee signing has been Tomkins, and you only got him because he was failing in the NRL and wanted to come home

Take your Tomkins hating glasses off for one second and answer that question honestly. I know Leeds fans hate him with a passion, as indicated whilst booing him when he was wearing an England jersey but can you explain why he was a failure?

Well he certainly didn't succeed did he?
His first season was full of defensive errors and little attacking threat.
In his second season he was injured half the time and poor the other half.
He also didn't make the playoffs either season.
The only success on his part was convincing a team to pay him around 1 mill a year to be a below average fullback (by NRL standards).

BTW I was at that game at headingly, and there were plenty of people in Wakey Cas and Hull shirts booing him too.

Pre season optimism doesn't half make people brave!

I will respond

1. First few games yes of course in a much tougher league against much bigger men he struggled to adapt, naturally. Attacking threat is because he was told to play that way. They didn't want the 'Off the cuff' rugby he was used to. And rightly so i suppose. Australia is a much more drilled game than ours. Indeed i was told by somebody close to Sam that Jarryd Hayne scored a try past him and made him look a fool and you can see Hayne shouting something at him. I can confirm those words were "You're in my world now Tomkins"

2. That point is utter bull. Yes he was injured for a while but was one of the Warriors best player approaching the latter half of the season by a mile.

3. He didn't make the play offs. That must mean because NZ Warriors didn't make the play offs he is crap. Must be all his fault. Can i remind you that Leeds didn't finish in the play offs either so by you analysis, Watkins, Hall, Briscoe, Ward etc are all rubbish.

4. Your last point doesn't stand up and you can't measure it by any proof.

I can only assume, given the sudden appearance on here of Leeds fans, that they've won a couple of pre-season fixtures.
