Critisising the tackling we "got away with" is in effect criticising the match officials?

Maybe if the RFL started fining managers for comments that "bring the game into disrepute" they might keep their mouths shut and let the RFL and match officials get on with doing their jobs?

Paul Wood took exception to (I think) Logan Tomkins doing this type of thing the other week.

Either way Cummins should take it up through the correct channels if he has a problem. I'm sure Wane has learnt this after his whinge last season accusing other clubs of illegally targetting Tomkins.

Why get involved? The RFL have already dismissed the case, all Wane has done there is draw more unwanted attention to our tackling technique. I'm not saying the refs would create penalties that aren't there, but if a borderline tackle of this type occurs, things like this could subconsciously influence them.

If anyone wants to "subconsciously influence" anything it's Cummins. I don't think our coach is blessed with the best media skills but I don't think Wane has done any harm here by basically saying Cummins is talking rot. Cummins comments were way out of line and if he really felt there were cases to answer he should have taken it up with the RFL not the media. In the face if that tirade by Cummins I don't think Wigan or Wane could just let it pass without comment. Not when he was accusing the club of deliberately training to tackle in a way to injure players.

I think saying Cummins will be embarrassed was actually quite a smart way to phrase it.

Isn't that exactly what Cummins did? He launched an official complaint with the RFL, I'm pretty sure that's the most 'correct' channel there is.
As for the comments reported in the press, not ideal but the papers will always be after a story. As evidenced by Wane's recent retort.

In fairness to Wane, he knew nothing about it until told in yesterday's press conference. Sounds like it was surprise more than anything else.

No because I feel the RFL are weak when it comes to it. It's obvious that coaches and players see how dangerous it is but the RFL don't. That's because most of them have never played the game and don't understand.

Yeah I've played the game at a decent level and I understand how dangerous these challenges are. It's only a matter of time until the RFL understand too.

Read through my posts. At one point did I say that I think the RFL will take action on anything that happened in last night's game?

It doesn't put it to bed though does it? It just means the RFL are too incompetent to deal with it. It is obviously an issue within the game, you can't deny that.
