not just their behaviour today but the atmosphere from the wigan fans was poor, apart from a few hundred moaning along to a drum and the odd 'wigan wigan' chant there was hardly any atmopshere from wigan fans which was surprising as you are usually excellent vocally.
as for the numpties,im afraid they are an embarrassment to your club, i caught sight of a few after the game with hood up and scarves over their faces and i thought how pathetic they looked.
there was also an argument in the car park with some dodgy looking lads in a car who were trying to leave the car park and couldnt understand why they had to wait and were getting very agressive with the attendant who was fighting a losing battle trying to explain that they couldn't just drive down the ramp with hundreds of people walking about.
anyway i hope for your genuine fans sake you get rid of these idiots as i really cant see what,if anything they bring to games apart from trouble.

I warned against the "Ultras" and was shouted down. I can understand that, people didn't see any harm in it and wanted to protect their club. Unfortunately, such groups attract the wrong sorts of people and give them an outlet to behave in the manner they feel most drawn to as we are seeing.

Didn't see a problem with the Wigan atmosphere before this lot came on to the scene, you were a good semi loud bunch of fans and they weren't needed and now they are proceeding to soil your situation.

Yes football has more problems in regards to things like racism but at RL recently we have had homophobic abuse hurled at players. Some songs from teams are getting worse and worse by the year.

The reason you see less incidents at soccer events is because they are heavily policed, fans are segregated and visitors are transported to designated pubs and their stand in convoys like cattle contaminated with foot and mouth. I for one don't want that in our game.

You haven't? It's common place across the country. Often, coaches are made to pull up out of town where police hand out match tickets to make sure the right people are getting them. Then they are escorted into the place they are playing and heavily policed to make sure there are no clashes with home fans.

I've been made to pull over on a coach and then given an escort all together to the ground at some places but I've never had the police hand me my match ticket. I've never been "treated like cattle" either even when I've caught the train to matches. I've even stayed over in places and been out around town drinking with no problems at all.

Maybe that proves my point slightly that Wigan Athletic fans have no such reputation as some on here would like to believe?

Do you remember When it was either Rangers or Celtic played Man Utd in a champions league match about two years ago? All away fans had to travel to the DW stadium "Home of Wigan Athletic" where they got searched, given a ticket as pre-ordered and placed on coaches supplied by police.

I do yes. It definitely exists I'm aware of that. I've just never experienced it. (maybe due to the small crowds usually involved)

Rugby League fans are not all angels. There are numerous issues so stop putting the blame at the feet of football every time something goes wrong is my point. I remember trouble at the Wire/Hull game a few years back and straight away the excuse was that it was Hull City fans.

Conroy is defending Athletic not football, i have a few friends watch Athletic and they rarely see trouble.
Athletic are not a greatly supported club and in the grand scheme of things a fairly new team.

Aside to that, i've seen worse at football, i saw a couple of Barnsley fans a couple of years ago getting the living bejesus kicked out of them by about 12 QPR fans in Acton, that was unsavory and unwarranted.

There are parts of the football experience that I wish were more like RL, but as I said above RL fans seem too quick to blame everything on football fans as opposed to admitting there's a problem.

The issue is not the Warriors fans, the latics fans, the wire fans or any sports club supporters. The problem lies within society today. These type of people live in every town and city in the UK! Rugby League as a "family" sport must work together to eradicate these scrotes from our great game.

It's incredibly annoying when league fans try to shift the blame. When there's trouble people usually say "they aren't rugby fans" or "they must be football fans" when it's just plain stupid and moronic but some people want to bury their heads in the sand. Those people are attending a rugby league match, they've paid presumably because they are interested in rugby league - they are rugby league fans and if they are causing trouble then it's an issue within rugby league or Wigan.

It's nothing to do with football fans, but FWIW I have seen Latics fans herded outside a train station and escorted to an away ground - totally irrelevant to what's being discussed mind, but it has happened.

Everything seemed to change around the end of the 2011 season. The playoff game against Saints at Widnes was one of the best atmospheres I've ever experienced, even though we lost. There was a great momentum with the Brigante thing and most fans were buying into it.

Something changed in 2012 and not for the better. Sad really and a missed opportunity to continue great work.

Spot on. I think a few of the older guys who were running it have left the group and the younger idiotic, hooligan wannabes have brought the whole ultra idea up. Whenever I see them all together, I never see some of the older guys that use to be running it when everyone was buying into it towards the end of the 2011 season.

I've always felt the whole Brigantes/Ultras thing more than a bit cringeworthy in whatever guise it took.

Going through the thread there seems to be very little substance here... Some people who saw events, Trolls from other clubs, some people who were not at the ground ... Is there anything official on this? Or is it mainly jaw flapping about one or two individuals who misbehaved..

Thats the same about any report of supporter trouble in rugby league.

- Someone from club A makes a post saying I saw incident X from supporters of club B
- Other fans of club A come on saying disgraceful, club B should be ashamed of themselves
- Fans of club B come on to say remember last year incident Y from supporters of club A
- Other fans of club B come on to say club A is the scum of rugby league
- Fans of club A say no club B is the scum of rugby league

Meanwhile sponsors realise why they sponsor a proper sport in RU with well behaved supporters from better bred sections of society rather than rugby league the game followed by the dregs of society.

If you were at the game then you would have known. The fact the thread was started by one of your own fans suggests it is not trolling. Still at least Dave 26, Coventry Bear and 21 -12 are not on here saying the Ultras are the bees knees and everyone who criticises them have no idea what they are talking about.
