Well said. There are many fans who appear to want failure and then gloat. The Stuart Fielden thread was another prime example.

I thought Sam came across well on Saturday, quite humurous. My only other thought (and it's something I have said on many occasions) is that part of a players academy training should include media / interview technique, there were a few too many errms from Sam.

I find some of the comments about Fielden sickening... Big men hiding behind keyboards.

I believe they do get some training in this department now, but, even with the best help/advice in the world, when your live on television its very, very difficult to appear 'normal', be relaxed, and answer questions easily.

If you don't like soccer AM fair enough but I've watched it for years and don't think there was anything wrong with his interview and I certainly don't think he came across as a bad guy in any way and he even got a few union digs in. Good bit of exposure for Rugby League infront of a massive tv audience.

I reckon they've been purposely asked to ask 'dumb' questions, just to give Sam the chance to explain how it all works. I believe Helen has a soft spot for Saints so she probably knows what's going on.

I stopped watching after tim lovejoy left, but as you say Sam and RL was expsoed on a premier league orientated football show which is advertising equivalent to gold dust IMO, but nevertheless others cant see the bigger picture and just tend to have a moan for the sake of it or just have a dig at Sam doing his bit for the game borne out of jealously

i too don't see the problem; i watched the highlights on Anytime last night and thought it was pretty down to earth and lighlt-humoured. they called him the best rugby league player ever fro crying out loud! what do some wigan fans actually want at all?!

at the end of the day it is a football programme with football specialists, the clue is in the title of the programme



to have a rugby league player on as one of the main guests is nothing but a good thing no matter how the interview goes if you ask me and no matter if tim lovejoy is no longer one of the hosts or not!

i suppose the man utd faithful moan a lot about wayne rooney when he scores a hattrick and is interviewed after a game, don't they? i can see it now... "yeah he scored a hattrick and we won the game, but his interviewing technique is awful and i want him out of the club and the sport forever"

For gods sake people.. What has to happen before people will stop moaning ? Sam did a great job on Soccer AM.he showed a bit of humour ,modesty and was a positive role model for our sport. A sport that sadly very rarely gets a mention on to popular shows like Soccer AM.so let's congratulate him and hope they have more players on in the future
