Always got on well with Leeds fans, and here's why. They are the biggest team in Yorkshire and always get the same cr@p over there that we get over here.

| Quote ="Cruncher"Two very interesting points from the TV coverage yesterday.
Firsly, when Charnley brought the ball in from the wing to touchdown under the posts, no Leeds player was rushing back to head him off. Okay, they possibly felt they were well-beaten by then. But there didn't seem to be any motivation to try and keep Wigan's score down. Totally reminded me of us under Millward.
Secondly, at half-time - the Leeds dressing room looked inert. McDermot was barely speaking, and afterwards I'm sure I heard one of the summarisers say something like "a very disappointing half-time team talk in the Leeds dressing room - most of it came from the senior players". Dare I say it, but that reminded me of the John Dorahy era, when Wigan's senior players took him to one side and told him to keep quiet as from that point on they were coaching the team - the only difference is that those players were the likes of Shaun Edwards, Dean Bell and Andy Platt, not the likes of Kevin Sinfield, Danny Maguire and Ryan Bailey.'"
You are being massively disrespectful to McGuire and Sinfield. The former is the second highest try scorer in superleague history and in 2004 had as good a season as your beloved Tomkins as ever had. And the latter is Leeds' highest point scorer ever and a Leeds legend.
However my club needs a rethink at the moment.

Its more a criticism of the management than the players..... BTW, 2004 was a long time ago..

And the Dorahay era was a long way from Shaun Edwards's peak.
The point was being made that Wigan were being run as a players' committee with Edwards, Bell and Platt. A poster then disingenously compared it to a 2011 Leeds players committee of Sinfield, McGuire and Bailey. Why they brought Bailey into it I don't know. If you'd have said a Leeds committee of Sinfield, Buderus and Peacock then you'd have had a fairer comparison, and one that loses nothing in experience and past success to that Dorahy trifecta.

| Just got off my 2 weeks in the sun in mexico and caught up with my rugby. As a Leeds fan you can't really do anything else other than acknowlage a superb performance by a team outclassing us. Tomkins is a cracking player, never used to like him (person not player) but as I have stated before he has grown on me and personally think he has changed certainly my opinion of him from his tv appearances. He is a cracking player. What impresss me most is yes he is skilful elusive and a good player but he is also very tough. He has legs like sparrows gets flung about abit and just seems to bounce up.
Well done on the performance. Hopefully we can start to work out our Problems and give u a better game soon

| Tomkins is a world class rugby league player with pace and vision.
Does he milk certain situations of course he does if it where a Leeds player we would applaud this aspect.
We should also give credit to the timing and skill of those players around him that create opportunities for him.
The set move of two dummy runner forwards outside the first receiver, who force defenders to oppose them thus creating the space for Tomkins to run into, also deserve a mention.
It has to be timed to perfection otherwise it could be called has shepherding or obstruction.
In stark contrast our attacking line is often very niave and relies on individual breaks. Rarely do we create space or confusion.

| The difference in 1993/94 was Wigan's problem then was a coach that wasn't of the right calibre, but the team was not ageing or past it as Wigan possibly (?) peaked in the 12-18 months following that season. There is no doubt Wigan were not the team they were in that season as Warrington and Bradford nearly ran them down and were level on points difference, neither Warrington nor Bradford were in the same league as a side overall as Wigan in terms of calibre of players, they both had one top player in the best season of their careers, Davies / Newlove.
Leeds last season had a coach that wasn't of the right calibre and a team that was ageing and showing cracks and had been for 18 months. Last year's late revival was the last hurrah that ended up buying that team more time than it should have had, similar to what has happened with Chelsea who are an ageing and fading force as proved in the league, but go it together for a final heroic push to win the Champions League.
But I agree with the OP about the Leeds fans being gracious in defeat, I got the train back from Wembley 2010 with the Leeds crew as I live in Leeds and they were all pretty fair in their assessment.
