I have to disagree, every bouncer I've ran into is a miserable sod who thinks every person who's had a drink wants to cause trouble and have a fight. 2 of them once laid my mate out with one punch because he was having a fag in the queue.

So because you've had bad dealing with door staff there ALL the same . Maybe 10 yrs ago when the old school doorman wouldn't take any crap but not no more , Doormen screened under the government now the "SIA" they have to take a college course and have all kinds of criminal record checks to get there badge now . So you'll find most doors have decent lads now.I have worked on the doors about 6 yrs ago for 5 yrs in wigan,ashton,sale and warrington just before the SIA badge came out and believe me that new badge took out a lot NOT all but a lot of horrible people off the doors .the imperial has had bell ends on and ppl I know have had bother with them before as in my 1st comment .

When i used to go out regularly i always found there to be one knob out of every bouncer squad on the doors of most places i used to go. Most of them are alright as long as you dont push your luck but theres always one who cant wait for it to kick off. When one kicks off the others simply have to back him up even if he is in the wrong.

In recent times i havent come across as many idiots as there used to be. They seem a lot more professional nowadays on the places ive been to.

Bouncers get a bad rep. It's not a job i'd certainly want to do. If you're working he door on some big pub or club, you have to be ready for it too kick off, because sadly, it is inevitable with alcohol and young people it will kick off at some point. This can create stress and sometimes over reactions.

Now within every profession there are unprofessional people, and it is much the same with bouncing. But to tar all of them with the same brush is just wrong. I have never had a problem with a bouncer ever in all my life. And I think that is because when i've had a drink, I keep myself to myself and don't become agressive or violent, maybe a little giddy, thus i've never encountered any agressive behaviour from any bouncer ever.

I have been on nights out in pretty much every city in the north west, and bouncers are all pretty much the same - nice lads, but don't overstep your mark because some are prone to over reaction, which is understandable considering the numpties they must have to deal with on a weekly basis.

After my own experience I'm desperately trying to bite my tongue after reading through some of the comments on this thread!.. Although I have no doubt that some are decent blokes, But there are dodgy people in every walk of life and the bad few spoil the reputation of the majority. Like someone has said If they were in the wrong then the judicial system will deal with them accordingly. So let's see official reports before mudslinging opinions.

i think this thread needs to stick to get well messages and not peoples opinions on what happened leave it to the police and courts to sort out.

I am a doorman around Bolton, not all door men are the same. I've been on for over 2 years and I have never witnessed a door man doing anything like this. We take the **** heads out of the club professionally without causing harm to ourself, the customers or themselves.

You may see a door man going over the top when they have been hit when trying to do there job... No it isn't the right thing to do but I think most peoples reactions these days are to do anything to protect themselves. These days people are carrying screw drivers, knives etc...

I am one of the moody door men and the reason behind this is because when you just want everyone to have a safe and brilliant night it gets spoilt by some **** head who then wants to fight outside and says things like "ill be back after you finish with a gun"....

But I agree if it was door men who did this Soliola they are bang out of order I would of stepped in and stopped them.

Whilst I am sure some bouncers are perfectly nice, reasonable people there is no getting away from the fact some are complete idiots, to put it mildly, and there is no way they should be doing the job that they do. Indeed I have come across far more bad ones than good, although things these days are a lot better than they used to be. When they do step out of line it also seems to be very rare that bouncers ever get done for the things they do.

tbh he's in the middle of st helens town centre, probs drunk and bouncers dont go looking for fights so he has done somthing to p**s them off, noone deserves a beating like that but to me it sounds like it was both there faults

You are making an awful lot of assumptions there. For a start according to some Saints fans Soliola is teetotal so may well not have been drunk. Also as many people have said on this thread it seem quite a lot of people dont share your rose tinted view of bouncers and their behaviour and I think some posters would disagree whether some go looking for fights or not. I also dont really see how you can say it is both their faults when you know nothing about what has happened.

Do not bother with the reply the person who posted its his apparently 1st post. So obviously from another club apart from Wigan or Saints looking to stir it up. Just ban him.

I have seen bouncers at clubs in Wigan which will go unnamed who have been extremely "heavy handed" with people simply falling asleep, I think the main aggravating factor is when the person resists being ejected. Some bouncers are far from being angels and when they come in two's and three's they can go over the top.

He s my last reply on this thread because every 1 his just 2nd guessing , When NO 1 knows the FACTs , I ve got a scar on my head 6 inch long off ejecting a punter from bar aqua in Ashton because he was walking round the pub leathered with his coc out , he was a big fella and well know , it took 2 of us to get him out because he lost the plot when he got told to leave . I ended up with internal and external stitches , so I don't know why people are trying to make out that it's ALL bouncers and never a punters

I did state "SOME" bouncers have a tendency to be unnecessarily heavy handed when ejecting people, but that's normally in cases where people try to resists being kicked out.

That's the dangers associated with taking the role. My experience of bouncers is very negative, you must sadly be in the minority.
