I admire your tenacity for sticking with it, mate, but honestly - tonight, he looked very ordinary. Though not as ordinary as the man who 'should have automtically been selected for England' - Ryan Atkins. Good grief.
The main thing to remember is that tonight it was the best two teams in Super League, according to Sky.

| I don't think he is the best winger in the world, neither do I believe Tomkins is the best player to have ever played for Wigan.
It's all hype.....and verbal nonsence that come from the Sky team.

That seems to suggest he's at least the joint best winger in the world...
No disrespect to Charnley, but three years ago Hall was doing everything Charnley does now - whether Charnley turns out to be as good as Hall, or even better than him, will be determined by how he progresses from here. As things stand he's a quality winger (Charnley) but plenty have turned it on for a season or two before being found out.

| Ryan Hall is top class and certainly amoungst the best wingers in the world. If we compare him like for like with Charnley at the moment it's just really exciting from a Wigan and England point of view that Charnley can claim to be outplaying him currently and he has the potential to be anything he wants to be.
I think a debate i'd like to see take place more then a Hall vs Charnley one would be a Charnley vs Briscoe one! I like Briscoe but I always wonder if he's been a bit over hyped a bit too soon and the lad hasn't quite developed as I thought he may. He physically seems to get dominated against the Aussies and Kiwi's and that just doesn't happen with Hall and I doubt it would with Charnley.

I'd have a look at how they get to that team before you try to use it as evidence. Suffice to say Damo and Mr Frisk have as much credibility as some who do.

| Hall is a great winger, one of the best. Right now he is better than Charnley. He is so safe and can finish really well. He has size, power and speed.
Could Hall beat a man like Charnley does though? Like in the QF?
Charnley has got the better of Hall in their last few meetings. It will be interesting to see how Charnley develops.
Lets assess the debate better when Charnley has been playing first grade for 5 years? Was Hall as good as Charnley after just one season? Not a chance.

depends what you mean by 'after just one season', I guess
If you were to look at their stats for their first full seasons, Hall probably had the better year
superleague.co.uk/statistics_pla ... eason=2012
but Hall was introduced more slowly into the league, after less time in the Rhinos academy
both seem like special talents though, and I would have both playing for england when the internationals come about fwiw

Is this a serious question? I guess it probably isn't. so I'll only post one laughing emoticon.
Sorry pal, I know it's hard when you've only been watching the game for one year.

Fair comparison. Hall had already played in 2007 and 2008.

| Hall also started playing league relatively late. I said somewhere else on here its Briscoe that ought to be most worried by Hall/Charnley, as Hall can play either wing. I hope they both get better. I for one loved seeing Hall score those tries for England last year. It'd be fantastic to have wingers on both sides who are massive threats.

He started to improve his defence big time at the back end of last year and has taken that through in to this season.
It helps not having Deacon and Joel Tomkins inside him though.

| Atkins yet again showed himself to be very overated and a flat track bully. He is very athletic which makes him look great against poor players but he has poor RL skills for a centre and when he plays against half decent players and teams he does nothing and is exposed time and again.

Not now obviously, but when Warrington had just signed Myler and Tomkins was breaking through and they were both fighting for an England spot, this board was absolutely swarming with wire fans and saints fans saying how Myler and eastmond are better than Tomkins

How is Sam getting on at Scrum Half guiding teams round the pitch these days..... better than Benji Marshall or Cooper Cronk I guess. wasnt that the discussion about who was the better Scrum Half.... Tomkins never ever was one if I remember.
I'm Not A fan of Myler he was dog pooh yesterday, but it was fair game comparing those inexperienced young "half backs" back then....if you couldnt engage in a sensible discussion about 3 bright emerging talents then thats your loss....
its just another embarrassing Wigan Is great at everything thread.
you lot just cant discuss anything without being the best and ridiculling other teams I actually want the dirty neighbours to beat you lot tommorrow no danger of that, but the truth is you should put a record defeat on them.
I feel sad for some of you I really do....
