Im sure this story is a load of Ben Cross but if there is any truth to it then it will be the Premier League, not the Football Association, that bring the rule in. They're not one in the same.
Without knowing the terms of the lease it's hard to say what 'breach' will be 'encouraged' (to use the laughably clueless terminology used on the rest of this thread) but doubt any compensation will be sufficient to buy a ground. Besides, you've already had to play an important game elsewhere at the behest of football. Lenaghan may say silly things sometimes but he's not completely daft - I'm sure he have a plan B.

He won't need one because it isn't going to happen, but I'm sure that won't stop people like you living in hope each close-season.

| The only part of a RL surface that take too much stick are the touch lines. If you look at them they are the areas that are worn most. Look at a football pitch and the centre area and both goal areas are bare come the end of Jan. The quality and the technology of the surfaces now can take RL and Fuzzball. I would say even if there was a way of the FA getting around your lease it would spell the end of Wigan Athletic as the drop in income from our superior game not using the DW stadium would be too much. Who knows we may even see the Wigan Centurions one day if they get their way. Pie Eaters and Leythers watching the same team.

| Personally hope this rule comes in and we have to have our own ground. If Saints, Wire, Salford can afford a new ground then we defo can plus the compensation cash. With the economy at the moment I would have thought it would be cheaper now to build a ground than ever. Standish with Langtree Park 'only' cost £20M and IL has just made £19M from his IT company. A new ground is definitely feasable.

| Does anybody know how much we are paying rent each year to the stadium management company, for instance i think the FA will think its small change to buy our contract up for the the next 50 years so we pay between 100k-200k a year will not cost them more than 10M.

Reality check.
1) Why would Lenagan use his own money to fund a stadium?
2) Where would it be built?
3) Why would Wigan council ever give planning permission when there are already two stadiums in the borough.
It isn't going to happen.
Neither of the three grounds you mention above have anywhere near the facilities we currently enjoy at Wigan.

2 of them were partially funded by the sale of their existing ground too. I also think the Warrington geezer is significantly richer than IL.

Lenagan has given a commitment to buy Oxford United their ground back. Something he hasn't done with us, so if you think we'll have first dibs on his new stash of cash, you're going to be disappointed.

| Just to throw a bit of fuel on the fire, Dave Whelan stated to a couple of company directors a couple of weeks ago that the Warriors will be sharing with either Saints (It was a St Helens company) or Leigh. Said he's had enough of them.
I don't know how he intends to do this but I do know it wasn't a wind up.

Out of interest what are these facilities that Wigan Warriors "enjoy" that aren't provided at the other stadiums?

Over 25,000 all seated stadium
Eight lounges that can accommodate over 1600 people in total
Car parking for over 2,500 cars
Italian Restaurant
A brilliant trophy cabinet that still holds some of the games greatest prizes.

We actually have 4 stands of facilities. At Saints new ground for example, only the mainstand has the top class facilities. We have other facilities throughout the stadium which most other fans will never see or know about.

I don't think Wigan Warriors "enjoy" the use of 8 lounges with a capacity of over 1600 people. The Dave Whelan Stadium website may detail such facilities but these are not all available at those capacities for Wigan Warriors.
For example can you confirm that Wigan Warriors have use of the Marquee in the North Stand set-up "thearte style" to accommodate the 500 users for that lounge?
In truth Wigan Warriors get use of the following lounges for corporate tickets:
Club Lounge 120 capacity;
Coors Lounge 120 capacity;
Directors Lounge 30 capacity; and
Players Lounge 80 capacity.
Do you want to split your 1,600 down into the lounges Wigan Warriors get use of?

BJ you're going to have to do better than that mate.
Mr. Teflons last statement was that Saints had to borrow £6 million to complete the stadium at "preferential"rates.
Why did they need that money?
Was it because Mr. Teflon signed off a stadium that was unfit for purpose?
What are those rates?
They would be preferential compared to a "loan shark"
Was that because the banks refused the loan?
When was the last Saints shareholders meeting.
Will Mr. Teflon "come to the crease" or will it be his usual blame someone else as has happened so often in the past.
Oh and Salford don't own their stadium either.
Wigan facilities are better than all three of the ones named. You know it and so does everyone else, well they do now.
Happy New Year.
