Correct. IL's goal through this deal is to create a deal in RU for every young Wigan player who comes through our youth system. Nothing positive at all will come from it.

We will also be moving half of our home games to Watfords ground and letting Saracens keep the money. Rename ourselves as Saracens North RL to help build their brand. We will update them on any young talent coming through at St Pats and invite them to cherry pick whoever they want.... (insert anything else which will help them and not us).

I'm angry too, but desperately hoping I'm missing something and that IL's reported comments a few weeks ago about not being worried by RU weren't a true reflection of his views. If they were then this deal is likely to be very, very bad news for the game, not just Wigan. Maybe IL has somehow snatched victory from the jaws of defeat... let's see what he's got to say for himself...

IL has serious questions to answer, joining forces with a rival code will be in no way beneficial for Wigan as states previous it appears to be a feeder club setup and it won't be long before Sam and other quality youngsters join Saracens. Where is the promised link to an NRL Club Ian? this was promised at the fans forum and would be massively beneficial to our club. I think I'm more furious at this decision than I was with the salary cap breaches, the end is nigh for Wigan Rugby League's home grown talent.

Let's all wait till we hear some more details on this partnership. There's no point whipping each other into a frenzy over something at present we know very little about.

I would say that hanging onto Sam for at least another 3 years is something of a victroy. Given that the rumours all round town held that he was going next year.

Unless we've been out-manoeuvred? I know everyone thinks highly of IL but I'm sure there are some bright people at Sarries and in the RFU (they will have a big part in this I suspect). It is possible he has made a mistake here..... let's be honest, despite the wishful thinking of many who should know better IL was in a very weak position and was going to be embarrassed by Tomkins leaving, especially after his public comments about RU raids. Perhaps he was in a tight spot and was then offered something he thought would help him save face... it's just possible he's accepted a trojan horse proposal that will only really benefit Sarries....

I would agree that communication from the club isn't great, and hasn't been since Hogan's departure. We never did appoint a replacement.

If another RU club comes along (assuming Sarries have agreed not to try to poach him as part of the "partnership"!!) a higher package and longer deal for Sam may help us get a bit more compensation if he leaves for RU. I can't get that excited about that particularly.

The sharks will still be circling Sam.

I would prefer him to go to the NRL, but this smacks to me of IL trying to strengthen his hand a little for when the inevitable offer comes in from say Northampton. What a depressing day for RL.
