This is a thread about Amos coming back from injury, but Brett still has to turn it into a thread of gloom and despondency as is his/her wont..

| It would just be too good to be true for Amos to recover his early 2010 form. Cant ever see it happening.

Wake up & smell the coffee.
It always amazes me when sports fans try to ignore something so strong and obvious

| Quote ="Wigan Peer"I really do hope that this has been the problem and that Amos makes a full recovery.... There was clearly more too it than confidence issues when playing for us at a lower level...
In some ways its as if we have 3 new signings for the coming season... Amos, Fielden and Hock... If they all get back to 80% of their potential, i will be happy.
We still need a centre tho...
'"
I fully agree with you, Amos was the best attacking back in super league by a country mile before running into that post and if hes fully fit this season with sam in attack and charnley it will be all the way to old trafford.. hock is the best 2nd row in superleague if he can get back to old ways the only person close to him is westwood, and fielden was looking good again before this season i guess it will depend on hes first drive up in the new season if he busts a tackle he will do it all year if he gets smashed he will be poop for the season..
it will certainly feel like 3 new signings for me anyway just get jack reed signed up hes every bit as good as gleeson and more.

Nice to see that someone can see the positives in a post, rather than just looking for any excuse to be negative!!... Thank you.

If we're going into the season with our hopes of success resting on 2 players who missed the entirety of last season through injury (Amos + Fielden) and a player who has played about 3 games in what will be about 3 years then we are screwed.
I hope (and think) Fielden + Hock will play big parts next season, but we can't go in thinking they will tear the league apart. If they do, great, it's a bonus.
I'd be suprised if Amos ever got his place back in the team (Regularly), I hope he does but even when he was fit, he only showed that form for 2 months out of his first 18 months.
Dudson is a decent signing, he is very young + has potential, replacement for O'Carroll. I think Flower is going to Hudds, so he is a bit irrelevant. Lauaki is a shocking signing if it's true.
We need a centre, and a hooker/HB, and top ones as well. If you add Gleeson to the list of players we've lost from last season you've got a pretty sizeable hole in the side.

| Having spoken to Amos many times last year, there was no question of a confidence problem, he could not side step on his knee and was seeking the answer.
He was so excited about making his name back into the team that one can only imagine the heartbreak after a couple of operations still did not fix things.
If the diagnosis is now complete and the knee sorted, then I would hope that a pre-season would have him back on his top form once more and silence all his critics.
He is a superbly talented Rugby League player with so much natural ability, I would throw my hat into the ring and say that a fully fit Amos would be a real contender for Man of Steel 2012.

Thanks for the update. I'm sure everyone on here would like to see a fully fit Amos Roberts pressing for a first team spot next season. Wish him all the luck!

i read rlfans pritty much everyday and do agree with the majority and balance of what you post especially on the wolves board.
But i think the point me and wigan peer agree with is that the 3 players in mention will have an effect on the squad and will feel as if 3 new signings and if some one told me that wigan have just signed gaz hock, amos roberts and stuart fielden i would be a very happy supporter if you look at the sqaud what we already have i would say that we are better than saints and leeds and it is every bit as strong as the gf winning team bar gleeson.. it isn't all doom a gloom as it being portrayed i have a feeling people believing that gareth thomas has signd and will be a big saviour when in all honesty we really dont need one.

In certain areas we are stronger than the GF winning team, but Riddell + Gleeson leaving has left 2 absolutely gaping holes in the side imo.

i agree but i guess we can only sign whats available and there isn't much there but if this sqaud can't at least contest if not with the gf then i wont blame the off season signings...
time for logan to step up to hes family name and cant help feel ian thornley was suppose to be the we was wanting to produce.

It amazes me when sports fans get so carried along with the rumour and speculation that they ignore facts. You need to wake and smell the coffee! The FACT is that JT is still a Wigan player until announced otherwise.
