As a facility and nothing else, Wembley is the best stadium in the world.
For everything else it is rubbish. No atmosphere (hopefully us Brigantes will sort this out). No atmosphere outside the stadium anymore.

| Quote ="Wilderspool memories"Good luck, I hope you enjoy your day as much as I enjoyed mine in 2009 and 2010! It's a magical place, much better than the old wembley with a great view of the pitch from anywhere in the stadium. Make sure the trophy stays west of the pennines please! Am I now allowed to say "it's only a tin pot trophy anyway" like you lot have been saying for the last 2 years? Lol.'"
To all Wire fans, yes, we're going to Wembley, but we would still rather win the league and GF, but you ain't gonna stop us celebrating the fact the were there and we're sure gonna enjoy it.

Same here. Vague memories of the 1960s matches. 1970 is more vivid - the blood down Tyrer's shirt, Sash crying as he went up for his loser's medla etc, but from 1984 onwards it seems like yesterday.
1984 was a major event in that we were back from the wilderness. A hugely disappointing result, but such a great turn-out by the Wigan fans that it was still a load of fun.
1998 was by far the worst in my experience. A poor atmosphere, very big gaps on the terraces, almost nobody knocking around London afterwards and of course a truly appalling display by a Wigan team who simply were not respecting the occasion.

| My only experience with Wigan was 98. My dad told me we would win. I was only 8 or something.
Hopefully this time will be much better.

Nobody ever has, its just that when it was pointed out that the league is more difficult to win than the CC (some) wire fans took this to mean "the CC is worthless and we dont want to win it!"
Cant wait now, we've had to wait far too long for this! Play to the intensity of what we are capable of and neither Leeds or Cas should be able to live with us.

Couldn't disagree more. Until the 5-0 defeat set in I had an amazing day with Bwfc in May.
The stadium is stunning. Truly amazing for me.
And the atmosphere outside was unbelievable.
Maybe you had a bad experience. Sure Wigan will sort it out

Like I said the stadium is stunning. Great facility, it does look amazing.
The atmosphere inside can be created at a big game obviously but not as good as cardiff or the old Wembley or Old Trafford for me.
Cardiff is a much better day out.

I was waiting for someone to say this! The Challenge Cup to me means EVERYTHING, I would love you to find a past post by any true WIgan fan who says the CC means nothing.
In todays game the SL is bigger but then again coming top of the league you get a tin plate and not much accolade from other clubd, so go figure..
Beating Leeds in the Semi last year to get to the Grand Final was amazing but beating Wire 2 weeks ago and Saints yesterday to get the the CC Final at Wembley was 10 times better.
Next time please use your head before you try and burst our bubble FAIL

Very true. The Millenium Stadium is slapbang in the middle of a big city with pubs and bars everywhere you look within throwing distance of the ground. Wembley Stadium is in the back end of nowhere with one pub in the vicinity which is a 15 minute walk away up a steep hill (it's called The Green Man in case anyone's wondering). Like you said though the stadium itself is phenomenal

Will be my 14th - after 66, 70, 84, 85, 88-95, and 98.
My older brother also did 63 and 65.
Who on this board will have been to watch Wigan at Wembley the most? Rogues must be one of the favourites.
My dad also went in 48, 51, 58, 59 and 61, but at 83 he's not well enough to go any more. And he doesn't qualify as he has never used a computer!
Conversely, my 15 year old daughter will be making her first trip......

| I have been following the warriors since I was taken to Wembley in 1984 by my uncle. I can confidently say that the GF at Old Trafford has no comparison whatsoever to the challenge cup final.
We booked our hotel straight after the Quarters and have just bought tickets online, the only downside is that my older daughters aren't wishing to come with us and the last time I went to Wembley I was pregnant with them in 1994

At one point my return to Wembley would have been a repeat of my first visit (v Cas 92)
Instead the omen is that its a repeat of the last time we won there

One of my fondest memories I have of wembley was my dad (god rest his soul) used to think it was hilarious to walk into the Green Man pub, get to the bar and ask the landlord/barmaid for "the usual", he did it every year from 1990 and would embarrass me with it everytime, proper Dad's joke!!
