more approprate would be a massive cheer when his names read out on the tannoy naming the team (assuming he plays)........then let the players get on with the game.
and pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease STOP BOOING SAM.
its getting cringeworthy, and im sure it making players lose concentration.
Lets get back to applauding the guys and leave the booing to the morons. |

Agreed on everything, especially the Sam stuff. Was funny at Saints but its just getting boring now. Cheer like mad when George's name gets read out on Fri to show your appreciation of him re-signing, but a special standing ovation for him!!? come off it! |

What the bl00dy hell was giving a standing ovation to someone far less deserving in Hock then, who got one essentially for being a P1llock and not being able to play for 2 years?
Yes a standing ovation for ordinarilly signing a new contract may be ridiculus but it depends upon the circumstances.
Was the reaction given to radlinski for turning down the union dollar and re-signing for wigan ridiculous?
Then why not a standing ovation for a player who has put back going home with his family at the request of the club and fans to help us out in a position where we'd otherwise be struggling? |

Yeah booing Sam was funny for about 30 mins at the Hudds match, but it's a bit embarrassing now.
I agree with the people that say it's a bit much to do what the OP suggests. I think I big cheer when his name is read out will suffice.
