| I was waiting near the ticket office and the 2 horses came near that side. A few people asked them questions and they said(well the riders did, not the horses ) that it was a training excercise for them. They complimented rugby supporters, saying it is a good way of the horses getting use to a crowd situation without any danger of there being any trouble.
You could not do this at the football as there is always an element who could cause trouble.(before anyone says i am not anti-football and know most are decent people!)
Basically, we should be proud of our family reputation and take itas a compliment.

Correct, iv been watching Liverpool away from home at most premiership grounds and been to every home game for a few years and the police have it completely under control thsese days, something that SHOULD be brought in for certain RL games i.e Warrington v Wigan, iv seen more scuffles at RL than at the football. Obviously football followings are more male dominated and hooliganism still exists but the technology the police have and intelligence stops it from surfacing.

| I'm confused. Was anyone actually negatively impacted upon last night by this training exercise? I was passed by some police horses and....well...erm...that was it. TBH getting up in arms about it looks like another shining example of the completely pointless Warriors/Latics rivalry.
As for the bloke who was refused entry to the Moon on a day when Latics are at home, why are you surprised, that kind of thing happens all over the place? I got refused entry to a pub in Oban, on a Wednesday afternoon for wearing a Wigan shirt. They had a simple rule, no colours. Ever. The fact it was a rugby league shirt made no odds what-so-ever.

| I don't think latics are any more trouble than our fans i just think they're pre empting tension on Sunday due to the fact that the team that wins sends (or is it just probably sends?) the other down to the championship. I never hear of trouble at latics games but there is a good chance there may be at this one due to the importance of it. Think of how we have very little trouble then a little at wire maybe saints games then none again.

| having spoken to the police riders in the past(yes they have been presnt before!!!!) they stated that the horses ned to get use to a crowd and this can not be simulated in any way apart from getting them out into a crowd. They also said that there was only a very smalll possibility of trouble at RL games and therefore it was an excelant oppourtunity to train the horses. We should take this as a huge compliment to the family values that RL has generated and not Knock it.

Yes, not so much now they are in the premiership and police and intelligence have resulted in arrests and banning orders. Somebody who comes into my work was telling me they was in Blackpool when they went there the other week, loads of trouble with Wigan, Sheffield United, Barnsley and Blackpool in the tower lounge. Not in the papers though, as per usual.

If the sight of a police horse made anyone edgy at a Wigan/Quins match I suggest they'd be better off not setting foot outside their front door, locking all doors and windows to the house and probably not watching stuff like Crimewatch.
I remember Police Horses were a common sight at Wigan/Saints games. The Police used them to escort Wigan fans back to St Helens train station last year. There even used to be a police helicopter that hovered over the ground & surrounding streets on derby day in the 80's & 90's

If you can't see that's a problem then I wonder if you have Latics blinkers on.
ATEOTD I can get in the moon wearing a rugby shirt on any other day but not on a Latics match day? What has changed? I've certainly not so it must be the people who are there on football match days which make the Polive turn out in force and force pubs to change thier REGULAR policies. How can you not see that's a problem or issue?
Places in Wigan for 90% of the time are happy to let anyone in wearing what they want without the need to search them also. Only on Latics home days they change? The OP is correct.'"
i cant see a problem.........you have the problem.
the moon has its own rules, as does any licenced premises.
if you dont like the rules...drink elsewhere.
btw.........i hope latics go down and im made up with wolves and blackpool winning........."latics blinkers"?.....dont think so mate
