You always speak alot of sense when it comes to young players so I value your opinion but I've got to say I've always been impressed with Ratchford. He has good hands, decent pace and a solid kicking game. He can also play anywhere in the backline and would bring great utility value at what I'd guess would be a reasonable wage.

He'd make a fine squad player IMO that in time could develop into an important player for us.

Not sure if we should be signing players as squad fillers. What message does that send out to the younger players trying to break through? If we need squad fillers they should be our own youngsters imo. Looking at the three playing for Widnes tonight we have some players with potential there if they get the chance.

Only half we should even think about looking at in SL is Chase at Cas.

Was thinking the same Rangi Chase in a Wigan side would be awsomoe to watch.

Chase would take up quota spot that we won't have available.

He is also not available but we do not need a half, potential long term target though.

There's a mile difference in class and ability.

I don't think bringing out the cheque book for a player who can only play on the wing when we've got Goulding, Charnley and hopefully Pat for a good few years yet would be a good move. Plus Briscoe isn't that good either he's a good player at best and that's all we need on the wing.

Ratchford won't cost a fee, won't be on big wages and can cover a number of positions well.

He'd be a sensible signing and as long as we brought others in with him I'd be very happy.

If Briscoe was our marque signing I'd be gutted as he's not a marque level player and we don't need another winger.

Briscoe will move into the centre birth sooner rather than later.

I think he has the most advanced skill set of all the young halves knocking about.

Briscoe played most of his junior/academy rugby at centre and has been eased into the first team on the wing. He is a first class player and would be an ideal partner for Josh Charnley. He also has the one thing you can't really coach, pace, and a lot of it.

I think though he was hung out to dry vs the Aussies by some shocking inside defence from both a very immobile Peacock and a union bound not interested Smith who left him isolated and this has affected his confidence and also development.

He is getting his confidence back though and I am sure he will be better for it long term.

He reminds me of the closest thing I have seen to an English Adam McDougal. Great pace, good feet and real deceptive power.

I really rate Tom Briscoe, very good player, good head on young shoulders.

my cousin was in the salford under 21's at the same time as this guy and i used to watch every game. and he was the stand out player in most games, i just dont believe he has been given his chance in the first time in his preferred position at stand-off. given time believe he could be an excellent player
