That Catalans performance was probably the best I've seen against us since we have been at the DW/JJB. They ripped us apart and only for a clumsy forward pass in the first half it would have been worse.

It wasn't a round of applause at the end of the match - that's normal for me, except when we play St.Helens and Warrington!

I assumed the applauding was a sign of dissent from the Wigan faithful.

That said, I neither clapped or booed.

That just about sums up the bitterness thesedays you get from Wigan fans towards the mighty Wire.

Only a pleb would come on here to gloat after their own team have been pumped on the same evening.

Agreed. They put in a tremendous performance tonight (especially considering their short turnaround when they beat Wire on Sunday). That's probably the best they have played for a good few years and unfortunately for them they had no support tonight (didnt actually see ANY of their fans). They deserved applause.

That was to the fans who can't show respect and appreciation to the other team for good play. I will applaud the opposition for a good play AND a good score, I won't cheer. It's something that I think the younger generation call "respect", apparently something they deserve but not from what I have read in this thread.

Here we gk again we always have stupid threads like this- who cares what the other fans do as long as they aren't fighting, setting fires and raiding the pitch!! I didnt clap, didn't boo and stayed till the end but that doesn't make me any more of a fan than people who clapped, booed and left early, it's up to them what they wanna do when they go to the matches as long as it stays within the law.

How so? Wigan lost and many fans applauded the Dragons play. I say good sportmanship, respect what others have done and say "well done". Isn't this something that's done in Warrington?

I didn't applaud their tries, I didn't boo the Wigan lads - I'd never ever boo them.
But I can understand people clapping the Cats tries, they put a bit of effort in.

Show respect to Catalan for some good skill, possibly, but to boo our own and cheer Catalan was crazy. The "moral high ground" is utterly pointless.

This was more embaressing than booing them who ever did it take a look or even better dont turn up at ot when we get there

I agree that the Catalans performance was very good and deserved applause at the end of the game when they had won, but I'd still question the applause of a mediocre try, applause that appeared to occur just because we were being beaten. I'd like to think all supporters in the ground applauded at the final whistle though, as has been said that's good sportsmanship.

I remember the 82 Kangaroos (one of the greatest sides I've ever witnessed) score full length tries for fun against GB. So much so the Aussies were roundly applauded for their brilliance on the day by the British crowd. It's not something that happens very often, probably wouldnt happen against a main rival.

I saw it as the Catalans players were being appluaded as they made their way back to their positions walking towards the south stand. Not neccasarily for the try they had just scored, but their general performance on the night.

And Rugby League didn't end in 1996 when your success suddenly started drying up.

I should not bite but... since 1996 we have won two GF's and a CC. You lot are still dying of thirst compared to us.

Exactly. We took a beating tonight - but let's give credit to Catalan for putting in the performance they did, 800 miles from home, with hardly any fans and at the home of the champions.

I clearly remember applauding opposition tries at Central Park (provided they were playing a fair game). It's called respect and it's one thing that makes RL stand out in the world of stadium sport. I might not like my team losing - I might even be angry at their apparent lack of effort - but that doesn't mean I should disrespect the opposition with a grumpy silence.
