Just seen 5 minutes on the tele....Never seen the ground so empty apart from the away end....actually shocked its that bad!!



South stand is just laughable... no more than 2.5k home fans in there!! East has 5-6k max, West 2- 2.5k. Thank god for regular 5k away followings in the premiership - If it wasnt for away followings they'd be averaging less than 10k in the superdupa global biggest league in the world barclays league premiership!!









And they still say its turning blue!





Latics are dying a death whether or not they get relegated....the novelty factors gone, all their 'support' who really just went to see Rooney et all have departed, and their back to their sub 10k core, just as we're on a crest of a wave!! Love it!

It's not the biggest league in the world. Small clubs sneaking in every year prevent this.

What's with the empty South Stand every home game?
Surely Latics can flood the town with quid a kid tickets and freebies just to make it look a decent crowd. Or do they already do this?

Yep.

A number of times I have queued for match tickets last season and overheard such deals being made in the next kiosk. (Such as OAP's getting in certain games for £1 each)!!

The funny thing is they play Fulham a week Saturday, probably the only team as notorious as them for poor away support and will only bring a couple of hundred. Could next Saturdays relegation 6 pointer be a sub 10k premiership attendance? Unless the latics marketing boys can pull a rabbit out the hat, or massage the crowd figure next week I think that could be tested, and would possibly be the worst ever premiership gate (I dont even think Wimbledon fell that far!!) !!

They've been inflating the crowd figure at home games for a while now. Even ardent Latics men admit they've less than 10K home support this season.

Never realised they were that bad....Thought they were just a bit worse than the latics.

There are massive similarities with Wimbledon and Latics though looking at the clubs -

Part time for most of their history, only recently in the football league, not long enough to build proper support, rising too quickly through the divisions due to a benefactor, and then started to flop as they were unsustainable at that level.

Lets just hope the similarities continue, Latics go defunct and a new latics relocate 50 miles away in the next 10 years, just as Wimbledon did!!

Strange that ticket details for the visit of Fulham on 15 Jan (less than 2 weeks away) are not yet on the Latics website. The cynic in me thinks this is because they are dreaming up some scheme to "create" a >15K attendance for a fixture that will otherwise be around 12K max.

Maybe they will offer a stand to Heinz or Worthington for the day? That would get the neanderthals on CL spinning in their graves!!!
