there isn't 1 Saints fan that wants a game in December to take place. Tonight is the final act in the stadiums history as far as the fans are concerned.

apparently the only issue is Taylor Wimpy, who will by then have taken charge of the land in front of the stadium, and may have blocked access to the site.

And rightlty so, part of me wishes that Saints would have picked Wigan for tonights game, that would have been the send off the stadium deserves.

I used to love going to Central Park, the Upper Morris social club was fantastic on semi final day.

It was a amazing feeling when I finally saw us beat you on your own patch as we suffered quite lot of successive defeats and that bloody 8-8 game was one of worst feelings I ever had leaving the ground that day.

I perhaps mocked when it was getting turned into a Tesco's but now that our old girl is going, I can feel the pain and sorrow of the Wigan fan sat on the steps with his head in his hands after the final hooter at the last game at Central Park.

Tonight I'm lucky enough to play touch rugby on the pitch as a curtain raiser, I feel like a kid again and my eyes are a bit misty each time I think of saying goodbye.

So let the best teams win this weekend, thanks for the memories.

P.S. Yes that 5-4 was a bloody cracker, I need to watch is back on dvd. (McCracken belted Bell in that one)

Knowsley Road is one of the great rugby grounds. Boxing Days 1988 and 1994 were great days out and games that stick in the memory.
The growing talk over the past few weeks about the last game at KR has got me thinking about Central Park. It will be a sad day for Saints fans but as has been shown on this thread, I think many a Wiganer will feel a little sadder once the gates have been closed for the final time.

I played in a tag rugby curtain raiser against the GB Legends team before the last league game at Hilton Park and, believe me, it'll be one of the most memorable and emotional occasions of your life.

As a big a dump as it is I will miss KR, one less "proper" ground to go to.

derby away days will never be the same. we can try as much as we like to re-create the atmosphere of KR at the new place but unfortunately nothing will match it. Better atmosphere than winning final (yes I do remember what they are like...vaguely
