I genuinly would not swap him for Inglis. That doesnt mean to say i think hes a better player but i still wouldnt swap him.

Exactly. A home grown lad that loves playing for Wigan? Wouldn't swap him for anybody.

Not really - transfer fees don't count on the cap (though I accept a high fee often goes with a high salary).

Do the Wigan fans think that the £450,000 spent on Fielden was actually good business?
I doubt it very much as the Rhinos signed JP for nothing and that put's the fielden deal into perspective IMO

no,sorry,i'm just an ignorant froggie, please excuse my bad english
had the great privelege of seeing Sam T play at Perpignan a few weeks ago - he IS priceless, hope you can hang on to him
after the match the Dragons had arranged a BBQ and all the players plus Rads & officials etc were present chatting to the fans, eating their food, drinking their beers & wines etc except for young Sam who stood on his own in a corner (chatted to a few fans & kindly signed programmes etc) and the most memorable thing about him was the fact that he was grasping his precious yellow/lime coloured boots as though nothing else mattered.
He had no intention of letting them out of his sight ! - probably slept with them !

It was Dave Whelans money not mine.. so yes it was great business!!!
Who knows what impact relagation would have had on the club that year..
Fielden was a major reason we stayed up, so for that reason then yes.
He has been good but not great the following years under noble, but this year he has been a revelation and thouroughly deserves his new two year deal.
IMO Fielden needed a new coach after being coached by Noble the majority of his professional career and it has benefited him greatly with MM and Wane now in charge.
IMO without Fielden we wouldn't have won the LLS. I know its a team game but him and coley have been great this year.

Agreed
Players with this amount of talent don't come along very often. Its been fantastic watching him progress over the last couple of years. He seems to still be getting better and better.
When you look at the signings we have made (and Hock coming back) for 2011 - he will be playing alongside Finch next season and behind a pack that must be frightening the rest of SL to death - 2011 looks like being an incredible year for Sam. If he can stay free from injury we are in for some sensational RL from him.
Pat Richards has put himself in the hall of fame this season, becoming a bona fide all time Wigan legend after a superb 2010.
Sam could do it next season, he's very young, but he's that good.

| Like people have posted on here before i got spoiled growing up watching all the talent at wigan and there have been some great players that have put that cherry and white jersey, players like edwards, gregory, hanley, offiah, west, farrell the list could go on and on
Sam imo will be better than any of these in 4-5 years time i had a chat with a guy the other month who's watched wigan for over 40 years (i've watched us for 20+) and we both agreed he will be a wigan legend his workrate, step and speed off the mark is second to none plus the fact he reads the game so well
When i see comments off other fans calling all names under the sun it makes me laugh cause it shows he's doing a good job for us and the whole debate about holding the players arm good players in any sport look for an edge and he's got his is it cheating? No not at all it's good thinking

Correct. Couldn't agree more.
Look at the Leeds fans comments about how Tomkins 'isn't all that' and yet listen to the roar from the southstanders when he gets tackled on saturday (if he gets tackled )

Yeah, let's try and change the subject to something completely irrelevant to the thread, which happened back in 2006.
This is the comment that's priceless.

Bit like Danny Mac on Carmont the other week.....or is it only cheating when it's the opposition?

| McGuires was a professional foul. The Tomkins one isnt illegal as he is clamping the ball also. This happened in both games over the weekend, but instead of moaning to the ref they just ripped their hand out and it was play on.
Like Ganson said, if you dont want it clamping dont put your hand in there.
