It makes me wonder why Saints have announced it. They have after all announced the signing of Shenton, plus Hull FC announced the signing of Sharp from Quins recently, so it doesn't appear as though Quins or Saints have any reason to keep LMS's whereabout's next year a secret.

| I think it would be a real mistake to let him go, how much he's improved this season and i think we really need him.
I'll be absolutely gutted to see him go

| I think he would be worthy of 1 year with the optional 1 year extension that has been offer to a few players like Carmont. Fielden is still worthy of our number 8 shirt after his performance this season.

| This is what i've been told he has been offered a 1 year deal for half of the wages he's currently on but hull and salford have offered the same but a 2 year deal and it looks like he's off to hull
If you think about it it fits in with the way il runs the club carmont and coley both got offered 1 year deals it can be risky to offer an older players short deals seem he doesn't want to be stuck with dead wood if anything happens

LMS wanted to finish his season with Quins. The fans love him down there and he doesnt want to taint his final games if the fans boo him.

LMS is a replacement for Maurie, not Graham.
If Graham leaves we'll be bringing another prop in, and one a hell of a lot better than LMS I'm sure.
Back on topic - Fielden has been in very good form recently and would be a pretty big miss for Wigan IMO.

Spot on.
Mossop's conversion and Hocks return wont be fully effective until 2012 imo.
We need Fielden to stay, hopefully IL will resolve this to a positive conclusion. Stu has said he wants to stay, hopefully money wont be his main motivation.

I agree, I hope the chance to be a part of something, potentially, a bit special would appeal more than abject failure at Hull. But I understand the lure of the 2yr deal.

Possibly.

Yeah, but he left the reigning SL champions for a side at the bottom of the table for cold hard cash - I'm not sure honours are as high on his personal agenda as his wallet.

He followed Brian Noble for good money admittedly, but the writing was on the wall at Bradford by that time. Look at all the others that went, they cant have all gone for the money

| Quote ="bigtruck"But (purely speculating) if he's not willing to drop his wages, which pretty much everyone has agreed needs to happen, then is it really Madge's or IL's fault if he goes? With whay he's reportedly on we could get 2 decent props in for the same money (LMS and Lynch???)'"
I doubt Fielden has an unrealistic view of how much he is worth and won't expect to match his current deal in terms of wages but if he has two similar offers on the table one for a year and another for two years which one would you expect him to go for?
I think length of deal rather than level of wages is going to be the deciding factor. He is not old by prop standards and so I can't understand only offering him a one year deal (if that is what has happened).

| I like SF I really do but I'm always a little sceptical with players who become a hell of a lot better in the season their contract runs out. Maybe we'll see the majority of players out of contract actually leave giving MM and IL a nice big wedge to recruit his own players? If Bailey, Feka, Phelps, Fielden, Riddell, Deacon and Pryce all left (with only really Fielden/Riddell being constant first teamers) it would leave a huge chunk of wages to attract players with. ( I know Lima etc have joined up but IMO those 3 probably replace Bailey, Feka and Riddell's wages leaving a substantial amount still to play with)

| It would be typical Wigan to let a player go just as hes getting into his best without putting up a fight...
Fielden
Briscoe
L.Robinson
Wild
Ashton
Brown
Orr
Tickle
Godwin
I rated all these players... I hate how we sometimes just become a feeder club
