On the wigan warriors forum someone has sugegsted that Fielden has signed a 2 year contract for Hull Fc.

I would be suprised if thats true after his interview just after the Leeds game. It sounded like there was nowhere he would rather be than here and Madge really likes his attitude and rates him very highly.

If we sign Ennis everybody else may as well just not turn up next season

I do feel we need a specialist hooker to replace Piggy, and if we can keep Fielden on reduced terms and sign Ennis, that would be some pack for next year!

I hope the Fielden rumour to Hull is true tbh. Although hes been solid I don't think he will be missed.

I think it's more likely that if we do indeed sign Ennis or any other hooker it will be because Amos is leaving. That would mean Sam would switch to fullback to compensate for the loss of Amos while Ennis would share the hooking role with McIlourm. Tommy and Finch would be our halfback partnership.

I think Fielden will stay, and we do need him in my opinion.

That would make sense, there would be a good balance in the team if that was to happen

Although i do think Leuluai would make a good hooker if need be

That team looks awesome, would be nice to keep amos and i hope we do but form what goulding has shown this season, as well as pryce, add to that sam playing very well at fullback, im sure we can cope without him.

The addition to Ennis in our squad would be another step forwards, one that we wouldnt need to make if we could have retained riddell, but sadly he has to leave for personal reasons which are understandable.

So I'm presuming even if we are only looking at the possibility of getting Ennis, it signals the departure of Amos with sam moving to fullback?

On a side-note, I see Amos has been in trouble with the law in this weeks court report in observer.

As for Ennis, shame we can't keep Piggy because he's been fantastic all season, but Ennis is a quality hooker and I'd be ecstatic if we signed him, despite these rumours of him being 'uncoachable'.

Simple, they are replacing players on similar/higher salaries.

by my reckoning, which may be way off the mark, the wages are being balanced by, as teosevenzero said, replacing players with others. We also had some cap spare in the year, i am sure IL mentioned this in an interview.

spare cap+phelps - finch

these, i am guessing would be similar or cheaper replacements, which would balance themselves out with finch costing more than phelps yet hoffman being cheaper than feka.

Heard a rumour on 606 Fielden was off to Hull. Not sure how reliable it is though, but I hope it isn't true!

Although it would certainly spice up the Hull derby if Mason signed for KR!

If by letting Fielden go we got Ben Cross and Ennis, then I would let him go no problem.

It would contradict his words after the Leeds game should he move. I think it would be foolish to let Fielden leave after he has regained some consistency in his performances. Plus, with the additions of Hoffman and Lima I would suggest that his performances will continue to improve; in a pack that wont rely so heavily on him and just like the leadership team has taken some of the pressure off Lockers, this might take some of the pressure off Fielden.

Nevertheless he must reflect the value of his pay packet, and if Hull FC are willing to be frivolous in this respect then so be it. We will just have to find an alternative. I would certainly hope that Fielden will stick with Wigan after his comments on Sky Sports.

On a side note, I don't think Hull KR have a "cat in 'ells chance" in their audacious attempt to sign Willie Mason. Why on earth they think that pompous git wants to play at their club is beyond logic.

Although I rate Ennis highly he does not sound to me the type of player we would be looking to bring to the club. As good as he is he seems to bring some significant bagage with him and we have shown recently we are not interested in that type of player under our current coaches.

Personally I would love to see him at Wigan I love his in your face style.
