I make no apologies for encouraging my team to give youngsters a go. I'd consider him ahead of Goulding, I like DG and he did an alright job against Warrington but I just love how dangerous Ainscough is ball in hand, as proven by him scoring loads of tries, whether it be for Wigan reserves, Wigan first team or Widnes first tream.

So Goulding deserves to be dropped because he doesn't score the amount of walk-ins that Ainscough does?

Can't wait to watch Widnes on a Thursday night on Sky.

Really wanna see our three young lads tested week in week out at that level.

Re Ainscough i can't help but think it would be worthless brining him back for three games against some tough opposition when what he really needs now is settled first team rugby for a full season.

yep, Ainscough's not a talented player but an extremely flukey player who always seems to get the ball in easy try scoring positions no matter who his centre is, other wingers just aren't that lucky.

But that's not what he said is it? He said he loves how dangerous Ainscough is ball in hand, as proven by the tries he scores, which is true. Ainscough is far more dangerous than Daz Goulding. He can create room for himself out of nothing and has great acceleration. Having Amos Roberts, Pat Richards and Shaun Ainscough running around the place would cause Les Catalans all sorts of problems.

The only qualm about Ainscough is his defensive frailties. Under the high ball he has been very vulnerable, but I would argue that Wigan seem much better at defending kicks than last season. We're putting much more kick pressure on the kicker and our centres are defending our wingers when put under pressure. Although Darrell Goulding did nothing wrong and it would be very harsh to drop the boy. It's a tough decision for MaGuire because Ainscough is doing so well at Widnes. I think he will stick with Goulding on the wing, but I wouldn't have any problem with him calling back Ainscough again.


Does anybody know if Ben Davies is getting a game? He hasn't played in the last two games IIRC. Only played one game. Liam Farrell has received a lot of praise from Paul Cullen and seems to be playing well.
