Any dislocation, whether or not the joint went straight back into the socket or not, should mean he is in a sling for at least four weeks so that the ligaments/tendons can properly repair.
When I was younger I continually dislocated my shoulder (at least 9 or 10 times

) and never once sought medical advice as it always quickly found its way back into the socket.
However, the final time it happened, my arm ended up round my back for about 5 hours, and an x-ray showed that my idiocy in not initially going to the hospital had virtually destroyed my shoulder joint and stretched my ligaments/tendons beyond repair, hence a re-construction and six months in a sling.


If he's dislocated bis shoulder at all he'd be in a sling, especially as he his a professional sportsman.
