| i once lost 11 stone in 14 days.
not a joke a provable fact.
mind you...
i did have a massive ulcer which perforated a blood vessel
i did DIE twice (according to the hospital) so its not a diet i'd recommend!
and thankfully it wore off...

| good idea IMO....the army, not Parsifals diet hints
let em run around in freezing cold temps, cos thats what they will be doing come seasons start.
never been a fan of these warm weather camps. Whats the point of training in heat, then playing in cold.
And is it a coincidence or what, that every year we have been on these warm weather jollys we get off to a terrible start to season.
maybe this year will be different.

Leeds have been to Florida the last two pre-seasons - didn't do them any harm did it?
It'd got nothing to do with where the training is - it's the training itself that makes or breaks a pre-season.

| yeah I agree, Rads in his book said it was hard. The reason is you get 3 training sessions a day and the rooms are like prison cells.
Warm better weather = more light = more time to train. He said Monie murdered them in training.

Spot on.
It's never effected their start 2 the season has it. Maybe it's something 2 do with the coaches rather than the location.

Based on what though?
I fail to see how one week's warm weather training out of a 7/8 week pre-season is any reason for our previous poor starts.

| Common sence tells you that its better to have the waether that allows you to train as oppsed to being limited by snow and ice.
But the fact that Leeds won the last two seasons and they went to Florida proves nothing ~ lots of teams went away and there can only be one winner, therefore for all the others does that mean it wasn't succesful?
Commone sence also tells us its what you do in training that is the important bit.
All this army stuff is not about building them up or getting them fit.
Its about team building for one and adding variety to the training to stop it getting boring for another.
Running round Haigh plantations for weeks on end would bore you to death.

The idea of any training camp is closer team cohesion in all aspects. Believe me, one week on camp, training twice a day, is worth a month back in the 'normal environment'.
The warm and dry weather guarantees a more productive environment.
All of the above, is providing that the camp is appropraitely structured and coached.

| I don't whether it is just me but IMO Maguire must think that our team must be that unfit that he had no option to put them throught the army training routine. I suppose it will help with team build.
Also with all them soldiers around there should be no way Feka could end up wandering around aspull.

| I bet it was a big shock to Piggy.
Straight from honeymoon, tough week training all day everyday, looking forward to the weekend and made to go on a 2 day Army camp.
Any chance we could leave him there for a fortnight, to make up for time lost?

based on the fact that warm weather
1. makes em soft........toughen em up in the cold i say.
2. the drop back to cold weather from warm makes them injury prone, especially ham string.
maybe a few were carrying niggles at the start of the season?? hence the poor starts.

The warm weather training gives them longer days to do more quality work especially with the ball, not sure where the notion comes from regards hamstring injuries but any conditioner worth their salt will ensure this does not happen.
The main problem regards the camps has been the coaching and quality of the time.

According to the other forum a certain individual rang in sick on his 3rd day back at training. Mentioning no names.

That's a fact is it?
I'm sure training hard all day in the hot sun makes you soft.
