Maybe but i too am prepared to have agg on my face if we reach and win the grand final,
Credit to Brian Noble, he has no doubt helped to turn the club around but i just feel that to remain consistent throughout the season we need somebody who is tactically smarter than him.
I agree with the god of biscuits.

No as it would not have solved the serious issue of our lack of consistency throughout the season and specifically our chronic inability to hit the ground running and start the season well.
A GF win would be great but it wouldn't erase that problem and BN has not been able to solve it in his three full seasons.

| Grand Final or not, the whole club needs something fresh. Leeds and Stains change their coaches roughly every 3 years regardless of them being successful.
From a player's perspective, like anything in life, when you're used to a predictable routine, to hearing the same speeches every year, a fresh perspective adds a spark.
A new coach would add a spring to their step and make them think about the game in different ways. Little things make big differences.

Just to play devil's advocate, how long was Wayne Bennett in charge at the Broncos? and how many did they win? Still that was Wayne Bennett though

Wigan win the Grand Final or even get to Old Trafford. How can IFL possibly not renew Nobles contract? I would think its already cut and dried that Noble is going by now so how would IFL explain himself should we win it or even get there?
If Noble manages to win us the Grand Final, IFL and alot of fans could end up with some serious egg on there faces. Whoever the new coach is that comes in he is gonna be under massive pressure to deliver. Anything less than the CC semi final and the final eliminator of the play offs next year will be seen as a failure IMO.'"

I have been calling for nobles head this season over certain performances... but surely the guy, if we win the grand final, deserves another year... god some of you guys have hearts of cold metal.... I am not his biggest fan, but for us to win the grand final for the first time in 10 years... he deserves a new contact even if we don't win it next year... all i want to sing at a game is... "Thats why we are champions!!!". OK we have had three years of poor starts... but who says a grand final success won't have the effect of turning our players into perenial winners rather than the also-rans that they have been used to??
Dare we believe??

| It was another good win tonight and another great defensive show but the whole seasons form has been unacceptable and how many semi-finals have we bottled under Nobbys command, i think some people may be getting slightly ahead of themselves.

Nobody is getting ahead of themselves at all.
The question was asked what if we win the GF under Noble. I knew most of the Nobby haters would turn this question on its head.
If we lose next week then none of this will matter but what happens should we win the Grand Final. That is the question.

I never mentioned trading one for the other. However if during a season only one is achieved it is better to be consistently good throughout the season than to be inconsistent and then have a good run at the end.
Establishing a good level of performance and results throughout the season builds the platform for sustained success. In the long term this is much better than a flash in the pan late run to get one piece of silverware. Inconsistent teams that make a late dash might win the odd trophy every 10 to 20 years. Consistent teams compete every year and usually win most of the available honours.

So you would prefer a consistant season finishing higher in the league and to be out of the play offs now if you had to choose one or the other. Thanks!

I feel the decision has already been made, Noble will go even if he wins the GF.
This is a big one but what if we win the GF, Maguire becomes the next Wigan coach. His 1st game is Melbourne in the WCC? That a lot of what ifs I know. But it could happen.

| One of the reasons that we do well in the play offs is that you have to play percentage football. Well since we play low risk rugby for most of the season it's less of a transition for us than other teams
Noble will do a good job for any club with a big pack and a chairman who can play the salary cap
But we rely on a steady stream of decent youngster who need one on one coaching, something that I don't think Noble does.
What we need to take us to the next level is a coach with NRL experience who can bring a couple of decent NRL players, not necessrilaly world class ones either
I'll always be grateful to Noble as he was the man in charge that saved us from relegation. But we need to move on

Look it's pretty simple. Leeds are odds on favourites to win it again not because they finished sixth but because they finished first. That is all you need to know.

| Christ people.
Win or lose, Brian Nobles love in at Wigan is finished.
If we were to offer him a new contract and he were to accept it would be embarrassing for both the club and him.
Like it or not Noble has touted himself all over the place. Whilst we have been talking to all and sundry about being his replacement.
We would look like indecisive fools and he would look like he had zero self respect (and I believe Mr. Noble has plenty of Self respect).
It’s over.
