| What about that big girl Ben Creagh, went over and shoved someone then took about 25 steps backwards at full tilt when the guy came back towards him

| What a game.
Loved it.
It had everything, great tries, near misses, controversial decisions and a bit of biff (well quite a bit of biff)

| Just seen yet another replay of the White/Price incident and White's last punch whilst Price was beiing dragged down was equal to Willie Mason's offering to Fielden, fair & square on the chin which definitely put his lights out, rolling eyes !!!

| Price was already on the way down when Waterhouse comes in and slams him. The punch from White knocks him clean out.

Yep
What made the waterhouse bit look worse was the fact price was already dreaming before he jumped on him

Last one I saw was against Whitehaven when Offiah scored 5, he was smaacked AFTER scoring, the conversion was taken from the touchline, and then the penalty from in front of the posts.

TBF the referee made a complete mess of it and caused confusion by saying 'possilbe 8 point try' to the players, especially when it had gone to the screen as the players reasonably thought it was going to the video ref to adjudicate as he'd said possibly!! What he should have said is that its a penalty for the infringement and the'll get the conversion and a penalty....thats what it is in the rule book...its only colloqually referred to as an 8 point try.
While on the topic though...ive always said EVERY penalty try should be a possible 8 point try as when a penalty try is given in reality there is no 'penalty' awarded......all the penalty try does is restore the status quo to what it would have been had there not been an infringement, and therefore in a lot of ways you might as well infringe a player trying to score an infringement at the moment as you dont lose anything....he either scores anyway, you get away with it, or its a penalty try. All penalty tries therefore for me should result in a penalty shot also being awarded!
Ive never seen an 8point try tho....just found it on the internet then to see it!

That was embarrasing, he played brilliantly and then did that. Even Fielden's not that bad, at least he stands there and takes the shot

| There was an 8 point try awarded for St Helens a few years ago in SL. If memory serves correct they were playing either Leeds or Bradford at Knowsley Road and Karl Kirkpatrick awarded Saints a penalty for a high shot on the try scorer as he was touching down. The try was awarded and the conversion added, they were then awarded a penalty right in front of the sticks to make it 8 points.

| The highlights of the game for those (like me) who have missed the match are on a famous video sharing site.
How good is Jarryd Hayne!? We think Sean Ainscough has potential
I remember thinking at the world cup that he was a very talented kid. Scored a blinding try against France and put a great shot on Darren Lockyer

| Dissent after a try should be a penalty also imo. Would cut the crap that even we dish out on occasion, although it would (or should) penalise Wellens, Briers, Long, the whole Leeds squad more often than not at the moment.

Exactly.......Ainny is a talent in his own right but hes nowhere near someone like that.
Hayne, Inglis, Falou are all players in their late teens early 20s who are WC players and play as though they are seasoned pros, and as good as a 27-28 year old star....Ainny onthe other hand has bags of talent yet still plays like a youngster....Thats the problem in this country with the coaching and training regemes......add to that we label a player like colbon last year and gouding this a YOUNGSTER If theyre really class they should be in the international set up by the age of 18 like farrell and edwards were not wrapped up in cotton wool.
Said the same of ainny all year....Stick him in now and by the age of 21 you have a class player....do a noble and numerous other coaches and come with the hes a youngster so we're giving him the odd game tactic and by the time hes 21 were still going on about a youngster with talent when he isnt one...He'd be 3 years of an international career behind players like hayne and inglis is it any wonder we get tonked by the aussies
Todays game made SL look like union....a different slower more boring game.....the difference is that vast there is two styles of rugby being played, and a player in aus will develop and learn as much in 6 months of NRL as much as a player would in 2 years of playing SL.
If we're serious about having a competative england we need to send players like ainny, tomkins, myler, eastmond over there from the age of 18-20, to realise the potential rather than stagnating playing the odd super league game and poor reserve level footbal!! The problem is we do that and we'll probably never see them back, as the'll be signed up for the rest of their careers....Its a double edged sword but at least it could result in GB being competative in the long run!
The talent gap in Aussie Rugby and GB Rugby is more than its ever been....its not even laughable

How about this for radical:
Team score and awarded penalty 4-0
Team convert original try 6-0
Penalty to the scoring team for the original offence: Either shot at goal or another set of six 10 yards out from the defending tryline.
Imagine that?

| Just finished watching the game now. What a cracker it was. The talent strength and skill on show was superb. Absolutely loved the biff with white and price at the end. It was definately taxi for Price .
The highlight for me was old timer Kimmorleys tackle on Inglis superb!!
Remember Barrett pulling a similar one against King at the JJB last year.
Thought Barrett had a good game too the pass he threw right near the end is what we have missed alot this year.

| I was just reading the report about Price who was knocked out cold yesterday. The doctors comments made me laugh
Queensland medical staff began monitoring Price after the match, with team doctor Roy Saunders saying the player "copped a good concussion".

An 8 point try is given when a player is fouled during the act of scoring, but still scores. The try is given, and conversion taken as normal, then an extra penalty kick for goal under the sticks. Hardly ever given, though I do recall one given to David Solomona when he was at Wakey, but can't remember why. I gave one once when I used to ref, much to the bemusement of the Haydock crowd on the day.
A penalty try is given when a foul stops a player from scoring, who the ref thinks would have scored otherwise. Try is given and then the conversion is taken under the sticks. These of course happen every season.
