The problem is refs demand respect but yet do sweet FA to earn it. Touch judges and Refs are just egotistical ‘big men’ who could never make it as a player so they become refs simple as. No normal kid decides they want to be a professional ref growing up or quits the game to do that imo.

I’m not a professional sports man and never have been so I’d never think that I could go onto a rugby pitch and tell players like Lockers, Cunningham, Peacock, Barrett etc who have played at the top echelons of the game that they have done something wrong.

No refs deserve respect imo till they earn it and Ganson’s bent attitude is defo one way of not earning it. I don’t care what anyone says a Saints fan should not ref Saints or Wigan cause it’s a massive conflict of interests and I seriously doubt and question Gansons credibility as a ref.

Like I said I go to games to watch players like Sam PLAY RUGBY not to sit on their s on a bench cause a grown man can’t handle a 19 year old talking to him.

Get a grip Ganson and get over yourself your not important in any way shape or form.

Best rant about refs I have seen for quite some time.

The ref is in charge, and players need to know that. Too strict or too lenient, they can lose control and respect. Maybe Ganson could have dealt with that particular incident differently, as a minute later, he was laughing with the players at a scrum, and it seems harsh to get binned for what appears to be almost nothing. I imagine Ganson and Sam will both learn from it, making them both better for it.

I just really don't like refs and i really do feel they are just there to spoil everyones fun.

It’s one of those jobs like traffic wardens, store security guards or match stewards as the only reason you’d do it is if you like confrontation etc.

They really do know how to spoil games don't they. Although fridays game would not of been as good without the ref, it got the crowd fired up which is good but Ganson reallly did make some awful decisions. The refs have got worse this season.

I'm a firm believer that Ganson has to be the centre of attention, and he's always involved in the big scandals involving refs.

Not really, any kind of sarcasm towards a decision should be penalised IMO.

He'd already been cautioned on the run for mouthing off earlier in the game, something which hasn't yet been mentioned on here.

You don't know what he said when he gave him the thumbs up. Whether it was a genuine gesture, a sarcastic one, or an antagonistic one.

After the original penalty, if he'd said nothing, he wouldn't have been pulled at all.

Secondly, Sam should have just walked away when the first penalty was given.



Again, 'if this is what happened'. Your posts are pure conjecture and have no fact or substance in them whatsoever yet you accuse people of being holier than thou. You stick to posting drivel and I'll stick to facts.



Your favourite word again - IF. In other words, you haven't got a clue what was said by either party, you you're just going off what you think you may have seen or heard.



So, to summarise your post, you think I have a holier than thou attitude because I have posted a couple of facts about players talking to referees after penalties have been given against them. Then because it is my opinion that this would be a lesson in life to a young player, you disagree because you think that it may be possible that Sam was being polite to Ganson when in truth, you don't have the faintest clue what was said by either party. Get a grip.

If you've nothing constructive to add to the thread then take you hands off your keyboard. If you just want to have a pop at me because we have a different opinion, do it by PM will you then others can carry on the debate without your purely speculative and totally unfounded comments.

Well like Bridger said, its about if it was a genuine gesture or if he was being sarcastic.

It was pretty petty of Ganson. But it will do Tomkins no harm.

Of course next time I see Briers or Wellens (as two of the most obvious) start screeching, I expect them to get the same; somehow I doubt they will.

Well theres nothing wrong with ranting on about Noble or the team and signings but seriously this is silly.

Ganson lost it big style, his attitude was disgraceful for a so called "professional" sports official.Do you ever see any similar behaviour in any other sport?
It's Ganson who should be looked at for bringing the game into disrepute, stick to slanging matches over the garden fence, it's just your level.
He is just a Bully Boy who commands zero respect.

Ganson sent sam off for the thumb gesture pure and simple..and thats from the horses mouth after the game!....does anyone think he would have sent long off if he did the same thing?
