It happens. I've seen on a few occasions on Match Day, Husband & Wife one wearing Wigan the other Saints walking to the ground holding hands.

You misread my point. I did not say that Saints are not building for the future. The fact is that the Saints ageing stars are on their way out and consequently Saints will gradually fall back amongst the chasing pack. It happened to Wigan and Bradford and it WILL happen to Saints. It is just a case of when. There are some good young players at Saints but it is Wigan who are top of the Reserves. Enjoy your time at the top - the only way is down!

I'm sure I remember hearing that Gary Connolly's dad once ran a pub, and that it changed from being a Saints-supporting pub to a Wigan-supporting one when Gaz left them and joined us.

If that's true, it must have been on the border country somewhere, but a Saints fan of my acquaintance told me that, and mighty cheesed off he was too, as it had formerly been his local.

When I read the title of this thread I had the image of several Saints fans stirring a massive pan of boiling water and gently dropping Wigan fans into the vortex and finishing by puttijng them on toast.

Yeah but we live in a multi-cultural society these days. Many Saints fans are making the effort to integrate into society, and though it isn't always easy for them, maybe these mixed marriages are the way for them to gain acceptance. There's still the problem of their clothes of course. In these days of terrorist attacks and so on it's a sad fact that many people simply distrust someone covering themselves with a Bhurka...er, Berka...er Saints top! Now if only we could get them to adopt the Cherry and White of civilised society....
