Lee Briers has been a class player for Warrington. Yes, a p!llock at times, but if you can't see the influence he has had on that side then I'm afraid you know b*gger all about Rugby League.

Well said. To be fair there are a good few Wire fans that don't like him either.

As much as I can see why he winds people up, I like the fact that he isn't a robot on the pitch. He likes to express himself, and he has a personality, unlike players like Iestyn Harris and Kevin Sinfield.

I know enough about rugby league to know that "Good un's" prove themselves above what they do for their club alone, it's about their attitude for the game, their fellow players, how they impact the sport with their talent, oh yes Lee has that talent, always has, but has never used it properly, or ever done his self justice, a good rugby brain, but an attitude that stinks at times, if he had applied himself to 50% of other half backs of the last 10 years he would have been a walk in for GB, but he never did, did he, and that is a great shame, but shows he is a good player, but never a "Good un"` as we know it.

Though I don't personally know if he's a wan@**, I've never met him, though it's my guess that he does indulge in a bout of choking the chicken once in a while, so he probably is.

He hasn't, he's flattered to deceive a lot of the time. He's shown flashes of brilliance, but he's not been consistent enough and has far too many flaws in his game to be regarded as a great.

Did you actually watch the game? Noble had Hock running at Briers at every opportunity (which makes a change from Fielden), the simple fact of the matter is, we, as a team, ensured one player did not get isolated in defence.

Hock ran at Westwood every time from what I saw, didn't even manage an offload.

0 line breaks in 2 games, tells our story of forwards impact.

A legitimate tactic in a bilateral contest surely? Business is business.

Anyhow, some of the bigger guys should be protecting our playmakers from such tactics.

Well said... I had exactly the same thoughts about Edwards, purely because he killed us so often...

What I saw was Tomkins loosing his cool on several occassions rather than Briers winding him up and in the matches I have seen him in , all on tv apart from the hj match and friendly is that he can give as good as he gets.
However I was disappointed with his performance, although behind a beaten pack , he does not look like half the player that Myler is imo.

Not really fair to compare Myler and Tomkins. Myler is an out and out 7, the team trust him and play to him letting him control the game from 1st receiver.

At Wigan with Tomkins it's a different matter. When he's on the field he plays as a true old fashioned stand off acting as a second receiver off Tommy or Tim who plays as a 7 in the first receiver spot. Tommy isn't a 7, he doesn't know how to play the position he doesn't know how to use his stand off (Sam) and how to create and organise, hence Sam has no one to play off.

When Sam plays with Tim we see a different Tomkins, Smith, does his best to control the team and throws the ball around from 1st receiver allowing Sam to run off the back of Tim as a running second receiver, just as McGuire does off the back of Burrow for Leeds.

For one reason or another neither Tommy or Tim are good enough to steer the team around the park, this combined with Sam's inexperience of playing 1st grade and playing behind a beaten pack is throwing disadvantage after disadvantage at Sam.

I've mentioned a few times about moving Sam to FB. I have on the signings thread explained my reasons for the move and will do it again if people want to hear my reasons.

Well if that's the case, he might aswell stop playing. If he can get wound up like that by "pathetic" Briers, christ knows how he'll go one against the likes of Terry Newton et al.
