Cant really disagree.
A real crime player tht good never played for Wigan and had to finish his career in such tragic circumstances.....not the injury, plying for Saints, its no way for bloke to finish his career. |

Just goes to show though how even a position like prop can have many different playing styles.
Very hard to seperate some of them, but if I was pushed I would say Smith as the all round "best".
Platt was a converted SR and sometimes that was apparent. A very good prop though and a really nice bloke off the field.
Skerrett was sometimes great but sometimes off the boil, again a very good prop.
Cowie was underrated imo. Very direct and solid.
Ian Lucas was unlucky to get injured before we had the chance to see the best of him.'"
Craig Smith, at his St George best was never as good as Platt. And I've no idea what you mean about it sometimes being apparent that he was a converted backrower! |

what a hard man, without a doubt the aussie i feared the most.
i must admit is was not until recently i was told he played for us.
harrigan, tallis, webke or any of them
Ian roberts was the hardest man i have ever seen play the sport.
and before you all name drop a dozen players who were coffin nails.
i am a jock who has lived in wigan since 89, thats all i know.
my first game was 91 against fax at CP.
Ian roberts (with his big flat top) still is the toughest i have ever seen.

Lucas would have gone on IMO to be world class had his career not been cut short as it was.
Of that list the best IMO is Platt and by some distance but if you asked me who out of that list could we have now, sort of reincarnated as their younger self it would be Skerret by a mile.
