| O'Carroll was the best of the three 'normal' props prior to his injury and I still maintain he is and will be a better player than Prescott. There is no sense in getting rid of him, certainly not for Griffin.

| Quote ="NickyKiss"O'Carroll to go out on a years loan for me next season if a real high quality prop is available.........that mans Not Griffin.
Then we can see how he develops somewhere else whilst watching Prescott develop here and then when Fielden is off contract the year after maybe there will be a place in the 17 for the both of them.'"
Going out on a season long loan is defiantly an option.
But like many have said we can’t go with both Prescott and O’Carroll next season as I still believe we need to get a top class prop and the maths don’t work out. Something has to give.
I’d be some what miffed tho if we used O’Carroll as a bargaining chip for someone like Griffin. O’Carroll has the ability to be a good SL player, his attitude seems spot on and he’s only going to get better as the years go by so his value should be worth more than that and we aren’t benefitting the most from it.
If we were to use him as a make weight in any potential deals then it should be for say one of the Burgess Brothers + cash or LMS + cash from Quins. There are better props under contract than Griffin.

| O'Carroll to move out on loan in 2010 and then Wigan should make a decision based on his performances that year.
There should be no permanent move for him yet.

Personally I'd jump at it, O'Carroll just aint big enough, can see him ending up at Leigh, Swinton or the like, not his fault, I know he's a grafter but in SL today if we want to compete with the big boys we need big boys up front and he just hasn't got the frame to build on,sad, but true.

Wheather O'Carroll cuts out a career here or not one things for certain.......he'll play for bigger clubs then Leigh or Swinton.
He's a superleague player at the moment but probably a lower end one but in time i think he can build up to be a top end player but that may take a few seasons.

Yep. New prop in and Prescott to become part of the main 4.
O'Carroll to then be assessed in line with Fielden's contract coming to an end.

I think we need 5 props at the club.
My thinking would be Coley to be re-signed on a years contract, a new prop to be brought in with Prescott being 5th choice and O'Carroll going out on loan.

| I'd like to keep O'Carrol for another season atleast. Maybe Coley the other way. Yes he's been playing better but is that not because its contract time?? Hard for us to tell as we don't have regular contact with him like the coaches etc have.
Could use Coley for a straight swap for Griffin another squad player and then assess O'Carrol/Prescott in the future, after next season.
However, whether Hudds want Coley for Griffin is another question.

Again ask the question would swapping Coley for Griffin defo improve the side?
I don't think it would so we'd be better sticking with what we've got.

No, on last seasons stats, Griffin is far better than O'Carroll but not a patch on Coley

As expected due to the minutes O'Carroll will have been on the pitch.
O'Carroll will get better year on year but i've said for a long while i think he'll be a late developer. When he puts on natural bulk he'll improve massively.

| He's nearly 22 isn't he? The only way he'll get bigger is by pumping iron, he ain't going to get any taller though!

| Quote ="Jukesays"No way was O'Carroll our best prop up to him getting injured!'"
So who was better?
Coley was off form and actually got dropped. Fielden was the same Fielden of the past two seasons which was nothing special and Feka was the impact prop.
O'Caroll was doing a lot of graft, running the ball in hard and strong and Prescott was not in the side.
What do you base your opinion on?

He won't get any taller but he can get bigger.
As the years roll by i'd expect the lad to get bigger and better but he'll be a slow burner.

Feka definately, and I would argue that both Fielden & Coley were his equal in most games and better in some but that won't apease you.
O'Caroll was doing a lot of graft, running the ball in hard and strong and Prescott was not in the side.
Prescott was injured, he came in for the Salford game and O'Carroll was rested/Dropped. I immediately thought that Prescott was a Better player for our team.
I also feel (But again you have taken one isolated sentance out to try & have a go) that Prescott has been partly responsible for the improvement in the other 2 as I think he provides a far stronger/bigger physical presence to the team both in attack and defence and takes weight off Coley & Fielden's responsibilities.
What do you base your opinion on?
I base it on what I see in front of me week in week out, what do you base your views on Dave?
Have you got some miracle all knowing specs that mean your never wrong coz it seems like you do with your expert Tactical opinions like "O'Caroll was doing a lot of graft, running the ball in hard and strong"!
Well I believe Prescott is running it in Harder & Stronger, it's a difference of opinion.
Dave'"

| Letting Eamon go would be a bad move IMO
I see Prescott, O'Carroll, Davies and Mossop as our future front rowers
