Depends what you class as big money. You listen to some on here and if another side ordered 20p more they'd be scrambling to accept it.
Quote From who? I said someone (possibly yourself, can't remember) was wrong to say it was his moral obligation to walk away from his contract. Hardly the same as saying it certainly wouldn't happen'"
Plenty of people said they'd happily sit by and see out their contract, please don't try and pretend that never happened. Luckily enough GB did see that it wasn't the right thing to do. If you're being paid to do a job, and paid well btw, and you can't physically do it then you need to walk away.
There's a whole conversation around this subject. Another example -plenty of people said Escare did the right thing by sitting out two years. He's now half the player he was. How's that improved his long term prospects? He's bagged two years on a good deal and potentially ruined the next 5-7.

| Be interesting to see how Chris Hill goes tonight...
I know his name has been mentioned on here as someone we should be looking to bring in.

Strong defence and actual leg drive in every carry for over 25 mins so far.
Already better than our props have performed all season.

Agreed, kudos to NK who mentioned Hill as someone we should be looking at, I was sceptical but he’s looked very good so far.

| He’s having an excellent season. I think he’ll stay at Wire and I’ve certainly seen no links to him coming here but he’d be high on my list. We can afford to give a 33/34 year old prop a couple of years, with even the option of a third because he’d be coming in to a side that contains props at totally the over end of the spectrum and they need experience alongside them.
I think we need three personally, especially if we can shift Clark on. If the finance is there to go something like Hill for Clubb and Mason for Bullock that’s a start. I’d then look at using the space left by Hastings and Leuluai to bring in another alongside a half (in an ideal world). An impact forward would be useful because again you can balance one off against the grafters like Singleton and Partington.

| They sum up perfectly what I say about accepting dire rugby if you win things. They’re dreadful with the ball Saints and he’s lucky Woolf to be working on the back of a top coach like Holbrook.

When Coote's cut out ball to Grace or Makinson doesn't work, they tend to run out of ideas. Not letting your wingers get drawn in is key against Saints.

| Quote ="NSW"For me the problem isn’t Havard/Partington/Shorrocks/Bryne. They are the cream of the prop in terms of 20/21 year old props/middles.
The problem in our squad is our experienced props
Bullock 28 years old people rave about him because he makes the odd good carry. Can’t defend, can’t play poor than 15 mins, crap.
Singleton 28 year old, great last year but awful this year. A Leeds reject shouldn’t be our first choice.
Clubb 33 year old, I don’t need to spell it out.
Mitch Clark 28 year old, signed on good money can’t even get a game.
If these were performing we’d be fine. Bag these not the young lads.'"
Stats against HKR
Singleton 3 carries for 33 metres, 18 tackles
Bullock 4 carries for 35 metres, 17 tackles
Oli P 7 carries for 37 metres, 30 tackles
Havard 16 carries for 107 metres, 32 tackles
Byrne 11 carries for 76 metres, 26 tackles
Sharrocks 10 for 76m, 33 tackles.
Again it’s our two senior starting prop letting us down. Byrne and Havard would be great coming on after Hill/Cooper, Walmsley/amor, Satae/Taylor.
I’ll drive Bullock to Wire myself.

| Those stats are interesting as far as they go. What they don't say is how many minutes those players were on the field.
Bullock and Singleton both started the game and were both taken off after 20 mins. Lam decided Bullock would not return and he didn't. Singleton was sent out by our great tactical coach with 6 mins to go with the game already lost. So to me Bullock played 20 mins and Singleton 26.
Those lads mentioned played around 60 mins.
If our coach refuses to send his senior props onto the field then they aren't going to make many carries, meters or tackles.
The problem isn't the players or the team as a squad.

3 drives in 26 minutes and 4 drives in 20 minutes is still garbage.

| The frustrating thing about this squad and it was been for years is the lack of go forward.
People saying Wane will correct it…well he didn’t last time so not sure what will change if he comes back.
It’s as clear as the nose on your face that our lack of grunt in the pack is the missing piece to take this team from there or there abouts to potentially a dominant force.
We have seen players signed by other clubs who would perfectly fit the bill for us so we can’t make the excuse players have not been available.
The main worry now is players like Havard are being asked to carry the team in the middle of the field and asking him to pretty much do it on his own could have long term negative effects on his career.
We need 2 experienced go forward props…who are asked to play in that role.
Not 2 experienced props who are asked to hit the deck on contact and attempt to generate a quick play the ball.
I understand that tactic and think it has its merits however when you are easy to dominate because it is your only tactic and you can’t make meters it simply becomes a very damaging tactic.
We have pace we have creativity we totally lack go forward.
Our solution? Chuck marquee money at a Prop who everyone knew was injured.
You through in 2 experienced quality props with Singleton (who has been poor this year) and Havard and you have a balanced frontrow rotation.
There is no balance in our match day 17 up front. It’s a mix match that has been chucked together without any thought.
For what it’s worth I think our balance is off in the secondrow too and as good as Isa has been I wouldn’t be renewing his deal. We need something different rather than the somewhat one dimensional offering we have.
Faz is quality, Bateman is too although at the moment the xfactor isn’t there, I am sure it will return but it’s not there yet. We need to add a bit more direct strike, which Isa has but he isn’t concussive anymore.
For years we have talked about our glittering backline but our single priority this year moving into 2022 is the pack. 2 new props, a secondrow to replace Isa and a 9 head the list of recruits.
I know we have some young secondrow forwards on the fringes but they are not what we need. We have neglected the pack for far too long.

| Wane won’t correct it if by that we’re looking for a couple of lads to play 60/70 minutes and make 150 metres a game but what he will do is to work out a way of getting the props and the rest of the team do enough to ensure we’re getting a share of the forward battle and the overall territory battle.
Lam is figuring out a way of getting nothing from the props, not much more from the back row and little from the outside backs.

It'll be interesting to see Wanes strategy with the England team when he has the likes of Walmsley as props.

| Tbh I expect the props to go really well with McShane at 9. He controls things exceptionally.
What bemused me last week was how deep our line was when we were just simply driving the ball in. What's the point in the carrier receiving the ball 5-8m back from the PTB? Should be flat or no more than 1m behind the PTB and running onto it.

| Byrne highlights the exact problem we have and what Lam is doing to these young forwards. He’s ready for a breather, he started the season well but had a nightmare in the cup game and is struggling to recover. Lam should be letting Clark or Bullock pick up the slack and letting Byrne just take a couple of weeks out but he won’t.

Bullock and Clark's figures from a 20 and 10 min spell respectively, why Lam won't leave them out there and give the kids a break is mind boggling, he's destroying any confidence they've got left at the same time as burning out the young lads
